CD-110.6 - NATIONAL INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $1,210       Color: Blue Aqua
This rarest of the "National" styles is the "variant with a smaller upper skirt diameter, thus more taper on the skirt" as described in the Price Guide. This variant was primarily found in New Hampshire, where they were used on a fire alarm circuit. Others were later discovered in New Jersey along a long distance telephone line. They appear to have been used only on the ridge pin. This example was recently found in an antique store. This style often has damage on the corkscrew, and this one is in very good condition. 3/8" x 1/2" skirt flake, and above it a 1" bruise on the wire ridge, both in the rear, otherwise about very near mint. Overall, quite good condition for one of these. For two other "National" styles, see the CD 104 in lot 16 and the CD 110.5 "Baby Corkscrew" in lot 21. This example is a must-have for the CD or New England glass collector!

CD-110.6 - NATIONAL INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $1,073       Color: Blue EIN: [020]
Nicknamed the "Large Corkscrew" for obvious reasons! A nice blob of milk can be seen at the top of the threads. The damage-prone corkscrew spirals are in great condition. 1/2" wire ridge chip and some high-point wear on the ridges, otherwise very near mint. The bold lettering on the base is all intact. This is the "variant with a smaller upper skirt diameter, thus more taper on the skirt" as described in the Price Guide. This variant was primarily found in New Hampshire, where they were used on a fire alarm circuit. A must-have for the CD or New England glass collector!

CD-110.6 - NATIONAL INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $1,155       Color: Green
The corkscrew is in great condition! 1/2" and 1/4" wire ridge flakes, 2" fracture running up from the base and around the wire ridge. 1 1/2" base bruise removes "PAT" and a few flakes here and there. Put aside the condition issues and enjoy the Green color. This is the "variant with a smaller upper skirt diameter, thus more taper on the skirt" which was primarily found in New Hampshire. Compare with the Blue example in lot 3 and see how these pieces complement each other. This is truly an attractive and rare color!

CD-110.6 - NATIONAL INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $963       Color: Blue
Nicknamed the "Large Corkscrew". The corkscrew ridges on the insulator, typically chipped, are in great condition. 1/2" chip/repair on the lower wire ridge at the mold line. Two 1/4" base flakes affect part of "CO." and the "18" in "1884". Two 1/8" open bubbles on the base. All in all, quite a nice example. This is the "variant with a smaller upper skirt diameter, thus more taper on the skirt." They were primarily found in New Hampshire. See lot 4 for another example of this uncommon shape in Green. A must-have for the CD or New England glass collector!

CD-110.6 - NATIONAL INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $3,080       Color: "Green"
Stunning! There is a huge contrast between this example and the "common" Light Aqua units. See a comparison photo in view 3. You might call this Green Aqua but it doesn't really matter. All of these large "Corkscrews" are quite uncommon and this darker coloration is especially rare. This is the "variant with a smaller upper skirt diameter, thus more taper on the skirt" which were primarily found in New Hampshire. This variant is more desirable than the "stocky" variant shown in view 3. The more pronounced wire ridge exemplifies the profile of the CD 110.6. Typically these have some chipping on the "spiral threads" as this example has. 3/4" chip on the top of the spiral, 1 1/2" open bubble with a little flaking on the lower wire ridge and a factory enclosed bubble above it, two 1/4" flakes on the skirt. A lot of detail but don't be concerned. It's easy to overlook these imperfections when this insulator is

CD-110.6 - NATIONAL INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $853       Color: Light Blue
3/8" base flake with associated 1/2" bruise and an open bubble, all on the base, affect three digits. There are a few milk swirls in the skirt. The damage prone "corkscrew" is in excellent condition. The large CD 110.6 was first found on a fire alarm system in New Hampshire, but others were later discovered in New Jersey along a long distance telephone line. It appears to have been used only on the ridge pin. For the smaller CD 110.5 "corkscrew" style, see lot 23. A hard-to-find CD with some character!

CD-110.6 - NATIONAL INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $770       Color: Light Blue
A 3/8" base flake and a 1/8" base flake remove a little of the base embossing. A little haze on the skirt, an area of scuffing and some roughness on the threads at the top of the pinhole. CD-110.6 - NATIONAL INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $715       Color: Light Blue
Two areas of base chipping and a lower wire ridge chip. The insulator has probably been lightly tumbled. A small annealing fissure is created from a neat elongated amber blob. The upper wire ridge and the "corkscrew" are in wonderful condition. Although J. Slater Lewis patented this concept, his patent described the inner and outer threads winding in the same direction. Frank Pope was granted a similar patent, with the threads winding in opposite directions. The large CD 110.6 "corkscrew" was first found on a fire alarm system in New Hampshire, but others were later found in New Jersey along a long distance telephone line. It appears to have been used only on the ridge pin. This insulator is difficult to find undamaged. A hard-to-find CD with some character! (#0957)

CD-110.6 - NATIONAL Bright Blue       Sold For: $880       Color: Bright Blue
A clean open base bubble takes out the "IO" in "NATIONAL"; a few fish eyes in the wire groove and a little scuffing at the mold line. The corkscrew top is perfect! This is a nice, bright color for a rare and desirable large "corkscrew." (#1159)
