CD-121 - BROOKFIELD Sold For: $1,705 Color: Dark Orange Amber

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - BROOKFIELD Sold For: $61 Color: Green w/ Amber Swirls
There are colorful amber swirls throughout the insulator as well as nice amber striping, giving an overall green color to the insulator. This is the variant with a number of blot outs on the rear skirt. Several little dings on the dome. Pair this with lot 34 for a contrasting duo. These amber-swirled Brookfields are getting quite popular!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - BROOKFIELD Sold For: $77 Color: Aqua w/ Amber Swirls

The pin hole is off center. There's a cavity at the top of the pin hole. Obviously something went awry. And the skirt is concave on one side as if someone used a pair of tongs to pick up the insulator while the glass was still soft. See the indent near the bottom of the skirt on the left side in |

CD-121 - W.G.M.CO. Sold For: $1,925 Color: Off Clear
Many might consider this toll to be Clear, but we'll be a little conservative in our assessment. Produced by the Western Glass Manufacturing Company just outside of Denver, Colorado, these tolls are found in a number of color depths from practically blackglass to practically clear as seen here. The Off Clear examples are one of the more unusual colors. A few areas of thin flaking on the base, otherwise easily very near mint. Add this colorless insulator to your colorful "Denver" lineup!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.G.M.CO. Sold For: $2,860 Color: Peach
A nice, rich color, the intensity of which can be seen all over, and especially in the dome glass. Two 1/4" flakes on the base, otherwise easily very near mint. Manufactured in the Denver, Colorado area by the Western Glass Manufacturing Company, which operated from 1900 through 1909. One of the more difficult colors to acquire, especially in this nice condition!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $121 Color: Gray Blue
Typical crude "Denver" with a few small flakes here and there. These insulators were produced by the Western Flint Glass Company which operated in Valverde, Colorado, on the outskirts of Denver. An interesting color, sure to fit into your lineup of "Denver" tolls!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $1,540 Color: Milky Gray Cornflower w/ Amber
Not only is this insulator unusual because of its milk swirls, two amber patches make it even more unusual! 3/4" square bruise on the front, 1" x 1 1/4" bruise and associated 3" fracture on the rear crown, two 1/4" flakes. Surprisingly, they blend into the milky glass and look like larger concentrations of milk! This beautiful color displays well, and looks like your typical crude "Denver"!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $121 Color: Name That Blue
It's difficult to put a specific color modifier on this, but without a doubt it's a shade of blue; we'll leave the naming up to you! 1/8" base bubble on the rear, otherwise about very near mint. These insulators were produced by the Western Flint Glass Company which operated in Valverde, Colorado, on the outskirts of Denver. Add this colorful toll to your collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $66 Color: Yellow Green
This is another example of the variety of green tolls that were produced by Hemingray. Easily very near mint. A nice contrasting color to lot 40!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $121 Color: Olive Amber Green
This color is hard to pin down; it falls somewhere between Olive Green and Olive Amber. Very near mint. One can put together a nice color run of the various greens in this toll style. See lot 41 for a contrasting example!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - GOOD Sold For: $330 Color: Light Green w/ Amber & Milk Swirls
A band of milk comes down from the left side, around the skirt, and back up to the dome. Areas of amber mottling give it a bit of a two tone effect. 1/4" skirt flake, otherwise easily very near mint. A "GOOD" insulator, for sure!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - BROOKFIELD Sold For: $231 Color: Rich Blue Aqua w/ Amber Zigzag
A heavy amber ribbon makes a zigzag across the front skirt and up to the wire groove, where it then disperses into thinner streaks, some of which go up to the dome and some back down the skirt, creating quite an unusual look! 3/8" shallow chip at the base of the skirt, otherwise about very near mint. The width and shape of the ribbon make it much more eye-catching than your typical "amber swirl". A unique item for the toll or "junk-in-glass" collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $209 Color: Gray Tint
This is an unusual color for this style, which is typically found in shades of Aqua. Some might consider it Clear but it does have a little bit of color in it. [UPDATE: Note also this is the less common Brookfield embossing variant with a large "1" on the dome.] Some high-point wear on the wire ridges and the bottom of the skirt, otherwise about very near mint. A unique coloration that should stand out in your "toll" lineup!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $1,375 Color: Peach
This is an odd color for an insulator as it is not in a typical blue, green, or amber family. 1/2" wire ridge bruise, 1/8" wire ridge bruise, otherwise about very near mint. A peachy keen piece!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $22 Color: Fizzy Aqua
The fizz in this piece really makes it stand out and gives it a translucent appearance. The bold, "prism style" embossing and the shape of the ampersand means it was very likely produced by Hemingray. 1/8" ding, 1/2" stress line, some chatter from excess glass on the upper wire ridge, otherwise very near mint. A great companion to lot 36, which has drip points!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $231 Color: Milky Aqua
Incredible milk swirls! A wonderful display when base lit. When backlit, the low pinhole allows you to see a dome of jade! Very likely produced by Hemingray. 1/8" wire ridge flake, otherwise easily very near mint. A perfect companion for lot 36 and a great addition by itself!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $440 Color: Snowy Light Aqua
An "AM.TEL.& TEL." toll with drip points! This is a rare embossing variation by itself, but this piece does it one better as it's filled with snow! An impressive display when base lit. Even when backlit one can see the jadey appearance, and the low pinhole creates a "snow globe" effect. The "prism style" embossing, stylized ampersand, and drip points leave no doubt that this was produced by Hemingray. A few chipped drip points, otherwise easily very near mint. See lot 35 for the smooth base variety and lot 37 for a great milky piece. Combine the rarity of the embossing with the stunning display of snow and you have one fantastic insulator!

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $1,155 Color: Steamy/Gunky Steel Gray EIN: [010]
{2 dot mold} Typical crude "Denver" with annealing lines on the dome, except that it's filled with bubbles and steam! There is a significant concentration in the front skirt, although it is still present on all sides of the insulator. For added interest, there is an out-of-round base. Easily very near mint. Pair this with lot 33 for a great looking couple! These "Denver" insulators, filled with character, are very desirable for "junk-in-glass" collectors as well!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $143 Color: Name that Blue EIN: [010]
It's difficult to put a specific color modifier on this, so we'll leave it up to you! 1/4" open bubble on the base at the mold line with no associated chipping; overall very near mint. These insulators were produced by the Western Flint Glass Company in Valverde, Colorado, which is on the outskirts of Denver. Pair this with lot 72 for double the fun! The extra dome glass in this example really shows off the beautiful color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $83 Color: Olive Green "Tweener" EIN: [070]
This color is hard to pin down; perhaps it falls somewhere between Olive Green and Olive Amber? Two 1/8" dings, 1/8" base flake, otherwise about very near mint. No matter what color you call it, it will fit in well with your other Hemingray tolls!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $330 Color: Aqua w/ Amber Sitting Man EIN: [090]
A quite dense area of amber can be seen on the rear. You can clearly see a man's leg and foot, and then it takes a little imagination to extrapolate from there. An amber stringer goes up and around the dome, especially visible in the front. This is an example of the old "prism style" embossing with the classic "loopy 2". 1/4" skirt flake, some chatter on the upper wire ridge, otherwise about very near mint. An abundance of amber like this is not typically found in these tolls!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - GOOD Sold For: $132 Color: Light Aqua w/ Amber Ribbon EIN: [010]
{1 dot mold} Typical crude molding with some annealing lines in the dome, but with a wonderful 1/8" wide ribbon that zigzags from the skirt up, over the dome, and back down to the wire groove. Perfectly centered at the left mold line. Really good condition. Quite an unusual coloration that should see a lot of interest from the "Denver" collectors!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $440 Color: Light Smoky Peach EIN: [095]
This toll, in an unlisted color, is EIN [095], which is missing the periods. 1/4" base flake, otherwise very near mint. A less common color variant for the toll collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $2,035 Color: Aqua w/ Dark Amber Swirls EIN: [110]
Stunning swirls can be seen on every side. Near the front left, there is a very thick patch of amber. Through the thick dome glass, one can see twisting amber swirls. What an awesome example, one of the best, especially in this very near mint condition!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $253 Color: Aqua w/ Amber Swirls EIN: [110]
One can see an abundance of amber swirls in the dome and some areas of amber throughout the rest of the insulator. 1/8" skirt flake, some high-point scuffing on the embossing, otherwise very near mint. An attractive toll, several steps up from your basic aqua example!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $88 Color: "Cornflower Blue" EIN: [110]
It's hard to name this color, which is a well-saturated rich blue and quite unusual for this toll. A few dings and scuffs. Whatever you call the color, you won't be disappointed and it will fit in well in your collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.G.M.CO. Sold For: $688 Color: Off Clear EIN: [010]
Produced by the Western Glass Manufacturing Company just outside of Denver, Colorado, these tolls are found in a number of color depths from practically blackglass to practically clear as seen here. The off clear examples are one of the more unusual colors. 1/2" base flake and a few smaller ones, otherwise very, very near mint. See lot 35 for a companion W.G.M. toll in a pastel color. Add this colorless insulator to your colorful "Denver" lineup!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.G.M.CO. Sold For: $308 Color: Peach EIN: [010]
An attractive and less common Peach coloration! Two 1/2" base flakes, otherwise very near mint. Produced by the Western Glass Manufacturing Company just outside of Denver, Colorado, these tolls are most often found in various shades of purple. This is a lighter and desirable color; it, along with lot 34, will contrast well with your other W.G.M. tolls!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - GOOD Sold For: $121 Color: Light Aqua w/ Milk EIN: [010]
A colorful 1/4" thick ribbon of milk with amber swirls runs from the base in the rear over the pinhole, and becomes more diffuse in the front. 1/4" chip on the skirt in the rear, otherwise very near mint. Even backlit, the ribbon really stands out! A really "GOOD" insulator with lots of character!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - BROOKFIELD Sold For: $88 Color: Translucent Green EIN: [010]
One might call this "Light Jade Green Milk" but there doesn't seem to be any milkiness involved; it's just a very pleasant light Translucent Green. 1/8" open bubble on the wire ridge, otherwise really great condition. For a couple of milky Brookfield ponies, see lot 16 and lot 15. A standout Brookfield toll!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $770 Color: Aqua w/ Amber "Mermaid" EIN: [110]
Wow! What a thick, dancing amber ribbon perfectly centered in the rear! Note that this is made by Hemingray rather than Brookfield. One can tell by the distinctive shape and the stamped embossing. A very unusual coloration. 1/4" base flake, otherwise easily very near mint. If this was an ink blot, what would you call it? The addition of some bubbles at the "bottom tail fin" of the streak give the sense that there is maybe a mermaid dancing in the water. For a great companion "pony", see lot 13. You have seen how popular heavily swirled insulators are, but have you seen anything like this?

CD-121 - PAT'D SEPT.19TH 1899 Sold For: $83 Color: Light Aqua
Ruffles have ridges? Well, so do insulators! This is an interesting style of insulator with vertical "pleats" on the skirt and over the base. We are most familiar with various ridge patterns on the CD 143 style, but Frederick Withycombe's September 19, 1899 patent is applicable to this insulator as well. The ridges were designed to cushion a blow to the insulator. Very, very near mint.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $94 Color: Aqua w/ Milk Swirls
This toll is a real character, with attractive milk swirling and translucency giving it a jade-like appearance. Update: Update: Base-lit photo in view 1 was added however the milk is not quite as strong as it appears there. Fantastic condition and with perfect drip points. Who could ask for more?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - CANADA Sold For: $72 Color: Dark Purple
One can clearly see the "B.T.C." and "MONTREAL" blotted out. 3/8" ridge flake, otherwise about very near mint. A good example for the embossing specialist. Nice strong color that still passes light very well!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - C.D.& P.T.CO. Sold For: $374 Color: Dark Apple Green w/ Bubbles
A nice mixture of bubbles and "snow" give this some character and a bit of translucent appearance; easily very near mint. Factory open bubble on the base under the "C." The Central District & Printing Telegraph Company was created to bring telegraph service to Pittsburgh, PA. The "printing telegraph" transmitted messages through a keyboard rather than a telegraph key. This insulator will be a great addition to your toll collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $418 Color: Light Green w/ Bubbles and Amber
{MLOD} This insulator is filled with small bubbles and veils of "micro bubbles." While most of these character pieces are found in the "usual" colors, the base color of this is an attractive Light Green. Very, very near mint. The "MLOD" indicates the piece was likely produced by the Brookfield Glass Company for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company. This one's a winner!

CD-121 - W.G.M.CO. Sold For: $94 Color: Dark Purple
Manufactured in the Denver, Colorado area by the Western Glass Manufacturing Company, which operated from 1900, when the Western Flint Glass Company was reorganized, through 1909. 1/2" base flake. A nice colorful addition to your toll or "Denver" collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $633 Color: Cornflower Blue
Typical crude molding for this toll produced by the Western Flint Glass Company of Denver, Colorado. Virtually mint. A great example of this color and in outstanding condition!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $418 Color: Lavenflower
"Lavenflower" is a term coined by collectors for a color between Cornflower Blue (as seen in lot 34) and Lavender. This example leans more towards the Cornflower Blue side. 1/8" open bubbles on the front and rear skirts, otherwise easily very near mint. A popular "tweener" color with toll and Denver collectors!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - O.V.G.CO. Sold For: $176 Color: Green
A very difficult color for these O.V.G. tolls produced by the Ohio Valley Glass Company in Pleasant City, Ohio. A 1/4" ridge flake and several other dings. Stress line at the base of the threads. This glass company operated for only a short period of time in the early 1900's, and there are eight CD's with this embossing. This piece will help you to complete your grouping of O.V.G. insulators and it's a tough color for the toll collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-121 - {Unembossed AGEE} {Australia} Sold For: $286 Color: Dark Red Amber
Very, very near mint. This is most likely the earliest insulator produced by the Australian Glass Manufacturers. Note the lack of the typical AGEE embossing; only a few of these units in amber are known to exist. This insulator was probably produced in the mid 1920's. The dark glass and thick, bold wire ridges really set it apart from the typical CD 121 style.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.G.M.CO. Sold For: $55 Color: Dark Purple
Several areas of base flaking and a 1" wire groove chip in the rear. This insulator, made by the Western Glass Manufacturing Company, has a very attractive coloration!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.G.M.CO. Sold For: $297 Color: Jadey Milky Dark Purple
1/4" and several smaller flakes on the base. Heavy milk can be seen everywhere in the insulator and it looks stunning base lit. There are some burgundy tones. The Western Glass Manufacturing Company operated from 1900 through 1909. Many of their insulators contained manganese for decolorization, thus the purple hues. You can decide if this piece is "milky" or "jade"!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G. CO. Sold For: $44 Color: Steel Blue
{3 dot mold} 1/2" stress line on the front, 1/4" base flake, otherwise easily very near mint. Crudely made with swirls around the inside the skirt from the bottom of the pinhole to the base.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - U.S.TEL.CO. Sold For: $72 Color: Yellow Green
1/8" flake and 1/8" fisheye, otherwise about very near mint. The United States Telephone Company was a Cleveland-based early competitor of A.T. & T. Through several mergers, it eventually became part of the Bell System. A rich, standout color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - R.GOOD Sold For: $330 Color: Purple
1/2" base flake, 1/8" wire ridge flake/ding, a few other dings here and there, some annealing lines on the dome, some of which extend down to the skirt. A colorful shade!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - CANADA Sold For: $50 Color: Jadey Milky Light Aqua
1/8" dome flake, otherwise easily very near mint. The embossing "B.T.C." is blotted out, leaving the embossing "CANADA." Milky swirls in the glass give it a translucent jade-like appearance which is very attractive!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - B.T.CO. OF CAN. Sold For: $88 Color: Yellow Green
Very near mint with some factory annealing lines in the threads and dome. Some olive tones are present. Produced for the Bell Telephone Company of Canada. There is an unusual "D" shaped spot, maybe one square inch in size, where it looks like another chunk of glass was pressed into the dome of this insulator!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $88 Color: Purple
{Note no periods} 1/2" base flake, faint wire groove rub, otherwise very near mint. Likely made by the Brookfield Glass Company for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company. The extra dome glass intensifies the pleasing color.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM.TEL.& TEL.CO. Sold For: $77 Color: Snowy Fizzy Aqua
1" stress line from the tie wire at the left wire groove, otherwise at least very near mint. Made by the Hemingray Glass Company. The snow and fizz give it a jadey translucent appearance when back lit, but make it really stand out when base lit. Similar to the CD 151 in lot 89, this is a great character piece for the toll collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-121 - U.S. TEL. CO. Sold For: $110 Color: Olive Green
3/4" flake on the upper wire ridge, some other dings and minor blemishes on the crown. The United States Telephone Company was a Cleveland-based early competitor of A.T. & T. Through several mergers, it eventually became part of the Bell System. A rich, standout color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - R. GOOD JR. Sold For: $308 Color: Deep Purple
A thin 3/8" flake on the rear wire ridge, otherwise easily very near mint. This toll was made by Robert Good Jr. in Valverde, Colorado. It has great color density, light enough to easily pass light and dark enough to create a stunning presence. A rich, saturated color.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - PAT'D SEPT. 19TH 1899 Sold For: $132 Color: Rich Green
{Pleated skirt} A few dings here and there so we'll say very near mint. A nice, strong, well saturated green. The low pinhole shows good dome glass, and one can see some amber swirls in the dome making it lean towards yellow green. Green variants such as this are worth a premium over the typical aqua and blue variants and will contrast well with them.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - McLaughlin Sold For: $770 Color: Light apple green with olive amber swirls.
One of the rarer colors found in the McLaughlin tolls, if not the rarest of all. We have seen far fewer in this color compared to the scarce mustard shades and the cornflower blue examples. There appears to be a 50/50 mix of light apple green glass with olive amber filtering throughout. The glass also has a nice crisp, brilliant quality to it. A must for any toll or McLaughlin specialist.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - HEMINGRAY / No 16 Sold For: $88 Color: Yellow Green
[020] One slivered drip point and three with stress lines, otherwise very, very near mint. This interesting variant has "HEMINGRAY" embossed on both sides of the insulator, as well as a large bold "1" on the dome. This variant is found in several shades of green and this is a bright and attractive shade.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM. TEL. TEL. CO. Sold For: $33 Color: Aqua
[057] (Dome) 12 (Backwards) {Note no '&'} Great condition! An unusual and hard to find embossing error where the ampersand is missing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM. TEL. & TEL. CO. Sold For: $44 Color: Light Green w/ Bubbles
{MLOD} 1/4" flake on the front wire ridge and a 1/2" bruise on the rear wire ridge. Bubbles can be seen from every view, and the extra dome glass highlights them. There's even some amber streaking. Great character!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM. TEL. & TEL. CO. Sold For: $39 Color: Hemingray Blue
Very near mint. The "stamped" style of embossing indicates the insulator was produced by the Hemingray Glass company. Quite an attractive color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM. TEL. & TEL. CO. Sold For: $39 Color: Green Aqua
A small potstone spider at the mold line, otherwise easily very near mint. The insulator is slumped and leans to the left with a crooked pinhole. Great character!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM. TEL. & TEL. CO. Sold For: $44 Color: Pale Blue
A few factory imperfections. Large bold embossing. Crude with thick and heavy glass and an out of round base. The pinhole is off center, showing some nice dome glass. The way the pinhole was formed appears to create an inner skirt!

CD-121 - AM. TEL. & TEL. CO. Sold For: $1,155 Color: Green w/ Heavy Amber Swirls
1/8" flake at the left mold line, otherwise very near mint. You will see swirled tolls with various amounts of swirling, but they are rarely as nice as this example! The swirling is very dense, but the individual highlights can still be made out. The insulator looks amazing when viewed from the front, but it's equally impressive when viewed from any angle as you can see in view 2!

CD-121 - {Unembossed Agee} {Australia} Sold For: $88 Color: Dark Red Amber
Several small pings and BB dings. This is most likely the earliest insulator produced by the Australian Glass Manufacturers. Notice the lack of the typical AGEE embossing; only a few of these units in amber are known to exist. This insulator was probably made in the mid 1920's. The dark glass and thick, bold wire ridges really set it apart from the typical CD 121 style.

CD-121 - PATENT - SEPT 19 Sold For: $72 Color: Green
{Pleated skirt} About a dozen of the "drip points" are flaked; a 1/2" annealing line at the mold line. Green variants such as this are worth a premium over the typical aqua and blue variants and will contrast well with them.

CD-121 - C.D.P. & T. CO. Sold For: $440 Color: Light Yellow Olivey Green

After the invention of the telephone, the company became a licensee of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company in the Western Pennsylvania area. The "printing telegraph" allowed the transmission of messages through a keyboard without requiring a telegrapher who was trained in Morse code. A rare and desirable color to add to your toll collection! |

| Open base bubble and a small flake as can be seen in the picture. Stress line over dome. Crudely made with heavy folds and an out-of-round base. CD-121 - A.T. & T. Co. Sold For: $165 Color: Aqua w/ Amber Streaks
Very, very near mint. While it is common to see amber streaking in the AM. TEL. & TEL. Co. units, it is quite unusual to see them in this embossing. The streaks are very well defined and are easily visible from any viewpoint. Excellent condition coupled with great streaks! Do you have one?

CD-121 - W.F.G. CO. Sold For: $484 Color: Deep Cornflower
Easily very near mint. A "dirty" bubble can be seen in the front. The insulator has some subtle lavender overtones. The extra dome glass really shows off the depth of the color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G. CO. Sold For: $908 Color: Lavenflower
Crudely made with some annealing lines on the crown typical of these Denver pieces. 1/2" bruise and a couple of 1/4" flakes on the wire ridge. 1/2" thin flake at the mold line that could be a factory imperfection. The swirly glass and fizzy bubbles add lots of great character! A must for the Denver collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G. CO. Sold For: $1,018 Color: Foamy Steely Blue
Crude piece with folds and some typical annealing lines in the glass. Swirls, foam and froth can be seen all around, especially over the dome. Folds and swirls in the glass enhance the appearance. An incredible character piece!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - R. GOOD Sold For: $578 Color: Rich Purple
Several small base flakes and a hard to see 1/4" base bruise under the "CO". Robert Good was involved with the glass industry in the Valverde area of Colorado, near Denver, and operated a company under his own name from 1895 until 1899, when the factory was destroyed by fire. This toll has a rich, saturated purple color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - PATD SEPT 19TH Sold For: $352 Color: Green
Small base flake removes about two "drip points". There is a bit of yellow in this piece but probably not enough to call it Yellow Green. There are hints of lime in it as well. The patent date refers to Frederick H. Withycombe's patent for projections or ridges to absorb mechanical shock. A nice bright color, and given the low pinhole and extra dome glass, it really glows! These green shades don't come on the market very often, and this is a very nice example for your collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - McLAUGHLIN // No 19 Sold For: $66 Color: Delft Blue
Very, very near mint with perfect sharp drip points! These tolls come in a wide variety of colors and this one contrasts well with the green shades!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - HEMINGRAY // PATENT Sold For: $374 Color: Jadey Milky Blue Aqua
Smooth base! 1 1/2" base flake in the rear, an annealing stress line in the front. Some would call this Jade but we'll be conservative and call it Milky Aqua because of the great swirling; you can decide! A stunning piece; one can see a great depth of color variation, especially in the dome. See lot 61 for another great milky Hemingray! This is also a very unusual piece, one of the very few Hemingray pieces that are embossed with the May 2, 1893 drip point patent date, but have a smooth base! Great color and a unique embossing makes this very desirable!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - HEMINGRAY // No 16 Sold For: $231 Color: Aqua w/ Amber Swirls
{Sharp drip points} Just three slivered drip points, easily making it very near mint. Some neat quirky fold lines can be seen around the glass. Wonderful amber swirls are visible throughout. They are especially pronounced in the front skirt and dome! An impurity in the glass flows down from the dome to the skirt in the rear. One of the better swirled Hemingray tolls!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - HEMINGRAY // No 16 Sold For: $105 Color: Olive Green
{Sharp drip points} A slivered drip and a couple of blunted drips that you can't even see. Some hints of amber can be seen in the skirt. Fine condition, and a great addition to your lineup of green Hemingray tolls!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - DIAMOND Sold For: $253 Color: Peachy
Very, very near mint. A bit of "tweener" between Straw and Peach to fill in your lineup of Diamond tolls!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - CANADA Sold For: $61 Color: Deep Rich Purple
1/8" paper thin flake on the wire ridge at the mold line, otherwise factory mint. An open fold of glass at the base can be seen in the rear. "B.T.C." is blotted out above the "CANADA" embossing. A beautiful purple shade, and a nice addition to your Canadian toll collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - C.D. & P.T. CO. Sold For: $484 Color: Bright Yellow Green
1/4" flake at the base of the skirt, otherwise very near mint. The Central District & Printing Telegraph Company was started in May 1874. After the invention of the telephone, the company became a licensee of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company in the Western Pennsylvania area. The "printing telegraph" allowed the transmission of messages through a keyboard without requiring a telegrapher who was trained in Morse code. A nice contrast to lot 33. A rare and desirable color to add to your toll collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - C.D. & P.T. CO. Sold For: $462 Color: Bright Apple Green
1/2" base flake, 1/4" wire ridge flake, hard to see 2" stress mark across the lower front skirt (see photo). The Central District & Printing Telegraph Company was started to bring telegraph service to Pittsburgh, PA. The "printing telegraph" was a device to allow the transmission of messages through a keyboard rather than a telegraph key. A nice contrast to lot 32. A nice toll seldom seen in this color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - BROOKFIELD Sold For: $121 Color: Dark Olive Amber
About half the drips are blunted or slightly flaked, a 1/4" small base flake under the "KF" as can be seen in the photo. There is a heavy amber influence which creates a swirling effect, adding a little extra character to this piece. Another outstanding toll!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - B.T.C. / CANADA Sold For: $187 Color: Off Clear w/ some Amber Swirls
Very, very near mint. What is really stunning about this piece is the presence of amber striations, starting in the front skirt and looping over the pinhole and back down to the rear skirt. This gives a yellowy effect in these areas and a mixed two tone coloration.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM. TEL. & TEL. CO. Sold For: $352 Color: Off Clear
Two 1/8" dings on the crown, otherwise easily very, very near mint. Even holding the piece upside down and looking through the whole thickness of the glass, there is no color. A tough toll to come across, so don't pass it by!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - A.T. & T. CO. Sold For: $231 Color: Rich Olivey Yellow Green
Very, very near mint. Clearly produced by Brookfield due to the large shop number on the dome and other molding characteristics. A rich saturated color in great condition!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-121 - W.G.M. CO. Sold For: $121 Color: Deep Yellowy Straw
The base is significantly out-of-round, perhaps the cause of a factory annealing fracture around most of the skirt; a few base and wire ridge flakes. The Western Glass Manufacturing Company operated from 1900, when the Western Flint Glass Company was reorganized, through 1909. The odd shape of this piece combines with the deep color and character! (#2021)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G. CO. Sold For: $209 Color: Cornflower Blue/Purple
Two 3/8" base flakes makes it very near mint. Crudely molded, typical of most tolls produced by the Western Flint Glass Company (1899-1900) as it struggled to keep up with an overload of orders. One can see the purple coloration in the wire ridge area and the strong cornflower coloration in the thick dome glass. Together they form an unusual and interesting combination! (#1998)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - R. GOOD JR. Sold For: $154 Color: Purple
Base bruise and some chipping at the left mold line, otherwise very near mint. Robert Good was involved with the glass industry in the Valverde area of Colorado, near Denver, and operated a company under his own name from 1895 until 1899 when the factory was destroyed by fire. "Denver" tolls are available in such a variety of embossings and colors, and many have characteristics unique to Denver glass. The thicker dome glass in this example really shows off the depth of the purple color! (#1865)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - DIAMOND Sold For: $187 Color: Peach
1/4" wire ridge flake, otherwise about very near mint. Don't be deceived by this pastel shade, which has a reddish tint, rather than a yellow one. These are scarcer than the more "popular" shades of purple and lavender, and for that reason are rarely seen for sale! (#1843)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - CANADA Sold For: $88 Color: Rich Dark Purple
Very, very near mint. This is a deep, rich color, yet it still transmits a lot of light. The toll is the only style bearing the "CANADA" embossing. This example will make a nice addition to your Canadian toll collection! (#0976)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - C. & P. TEL. CO. Sold For: $110 Color: Rich Yellowy Green
Crudely molded with some glass folds and a factory "lehr kiss" on the dome, several 1/8" flakes scattered around on the wire ridges. The Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company provided service to Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and later to West Virginia. The Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company was actually several smaller companies, the first of which was founded in 1883. C & P tolls are very difficult to acquire in any color, and this example is a true winner! See lot 20 for a colorful companion! (#1787)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - C. & P. TEL. CO. Sold For: $220 Color: Bright Yellow Green
About very near mint. The Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company provided service to Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and later to West Virginia. The Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company was actually several smaller companies, the first of which was founded in 1883. Although aqua and blue examples are not particularly easy to find, it's very difficult to acquire a bright yellow green example such as this one. The great color saturation makes this insulator really pop! See lot 19 for a colorful companion! (#0221)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - BROOKFIELD Sold For: $1,485 Color: Deep Olive/Orange Amber
Several chipped drips, otherwise about very very near mint. There is pronounced light and dark streaking visible in the skirt. There are many CD 121 BROOKFIELD insulators available that are yellow olive green, or even olive green, some with varying amounts of amber swirling. One rarely sees an example such as this one that is truly amber, with the only "green" coloration being the areas of olive amber mixed in with the orange amber sections, giving an even more striking appearance to this item! (#0115)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM. TEL. & TEL. CO. Sold For: $308 Color: Aqua
Very near mint. This is an interesting and uncommon piece made by Hemingray. One can tell by the styled ampersand "&", the typical aqua color and the presence of drip points. This is a tougher piece than it may seem, and is rarely offered for sale. A great example for the toll or Hemingray collector! (#1688)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM. TEL. & TEL. CO. Sold For: $88 Color: Green w/ Amber Swirling
Easily grades very near mint. Distinct amber swirls can be viewed from any angle. In the rear, there is a nice 1" long "pollywog", as seen in view 2, making this example of particular interest to collectors! (#0220)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - AM. TEL. & TEL. CO. Sold For: $55 Color: Extra Bubbly Aqua
A 1" scallop bruise is very difficult to see because it blends in with all the bubbles, otherwise excellent condition! This example was most likely produced by Hemingray, judging from the embossing. The preponderance of bubbles gives it a jade-like appearance, and the amber streak in the dome adds extra character. (#0975)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $308 Color: Dark Cornflower Blue
A crude piece with annealing fissures in the threads and crown, as one often sees in insulators from the Western Flint Glass Company, which was only around for about a year at the turn of the century. The company appeared to prefer quantity over quality and was quite prolific during its short lifetime. The colors that W.F.G. insulators were made in are quite different from those made by other manufacturers, and this is a great example! (#2005)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - CANADA Sold For: $110 Color: Deep Purple
Great condition, 1/8" ding/flake on the dome. A deep, rich color that transmits a lot of light, and a nice addition to your Canadian toll collection! (#0537)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - BROOKFIELD Sold For: $72 Color: Olivey Ambery Swirls
A chipped drip and a wire ridge flake. There is some odd surface crazing, mostly on the rear, perhaps from being buried. This gives the insulator an interesting sparkly glittery affect when front lit. There are lots of amber swirls throughout the piece, although there is an area of the skirt that is still aqua, adding some nice contrast! (#1750)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-121 - W.G.M.CO. Sold For: $198 Color: Deep Peachy Straw w/ Purple Wisps
Several base flakes and a couple of wire ridge flakes, otherwise VNM. Purple wisps in the dome add extra character to this nice Denver piece! (#2016)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $110 Color: Arizona Turquoise Blue
Wire ridge flake on the rear, some pings in the wire groove, otherwise VNM. Appears to have been lightly tumbled. Very pronounced ghosting on the front crown. An unusual, bright blue color! (#0481)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $396 Color: Light Green w/ Amber Blending
Small base flake, stress mark at left mold line, several dings. May have been lightly cleaned. Amber blending always makes for unique insulators in various shades of green. This one may still have a little tinge of aqua but it's close enough to call it Green! (#0474)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $253 Color: Lavenflower
Pinky base flake, several dings on the wire ridge. If Lavenflower is truly a color, this is what it would be! We sold one in a previous auction and it was the same exact color as this! (#0472)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $253 Color: Deep Cornflower Blue
Crude with some annealing lines and a few small base flakes, a lehr kiss on the wire ridge. A rich, deep color! (#0503)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $352 Color: "Popsicle Purple" w/ Swirly Bubbles
Base flake, 1" skirt fracture in rear, otherwise VNM. The fracture can barely be seen and is just a thin line in the middle of the piece slightly to the right of the left side of the "6" as seen in view 2. The darker line about two thirds around the insulator is just an odd reflection that appeared during photographing it and the triangle shaped area on the far lower left is just the result of a little cold pour. This insulator was auctioned over 20 years ago and was described as "Popsicle Purple". We would put it in the "Lavender" range but it's hard to pin down the specific color. There are elongated microbubbles in the skirt and dome, making the insulator sparkle! (#0438)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-121 - W.F.G.CO. Sold For: $209 Color: Yellowy Green
Base bruise and flake from the left mold line to under the "R". There is a sand-blasting effect on the rear decreasing in severity as you go towards the front, where the glass is shiny. There is none of this on the top of the dome, the wire groove, or the base. This could be from natural wear in a sandy and windy environment. One can see some amber blending in the skirt and dome that enhances the color. Green is the toughest color for W.F.G.CO. tolls; what an outstanding piece for your toll collection! (#0487)
