CD-127.4 - {Unembossed} Sold For: $908 Color: Green Aqua w/ Milk Swirls EIN: [010]
Milk swirls can be seen all around with a heavy concentration in the front lower skirt next to a 1/2" bubble and on the dome. The middle of the insulator has a bit of a jadey translucent appearance from the milk. This is very likely an early unembossed Hemingray product. 1/2" diameter area of pings and flaking on the dome, 1/2" skirt flake, otherwise about very near mint. If you want an example of this style, why don't you get one with lots of extra character like this piece?

CD-127.4 - {Unembossed} Sold For: $798 Color: Dark Aqua EIN: [010]
Many of these are darker aqua; the lighter aqua coloration shows the color better and has a much better presence. Really good condition, especially for one of these. The base is perfect: no chips, flakes or slivers. The rest is in very good condition; an excellent example! There is great clarity to the glass and the low pinhole creates a nice hemisphere of glass at the top of the threads. This style is one of the early threaded telegraph insulators. A tough CD to acquire and this has extra character.

CD-127.4 - {Unembossed} Sold For: $528 Color: Dark Aqua w/ Milk Swirls
Many of the CD 127.4 insulators are darker aqua in color. This one has a much better presence, being a lighter aqua and showing the color better. In addition, there are some milky waves in the skirt. 3/4" wire ridge bruise at the left mold line, 1" square flake on the rear, assorted 1/8" dings. This piece shows its age as it is one of the early threaded telegraph insulators. A tough CD to acquire and this has extra character!

CD-127.4 - {Unembossed} Sold For: $688 Color: Dark Aqua
An old, heavy piece of glass, likely made by the Hemingray Glass Company. For an embossed example, see lot 38. Some flaking on the base and a few scuffs. There is some milk in the glass and overall this gives a translucent appearance. Own a piece of telegraph history over 150 years old!

CD-127.4 - PATENT DEC. 19 Sold For: $1,018 Color: Dark Aqua
Note the "DEC. 19, 1871" embossing indicating this insulator was made by Hemingray. No doubt, one of the first embossed pieces Hemingray made. The unembossed examples, such as in lot 37, are uncommon, and these embossed units are rare. A 3/4" skirt chip to the rear of the right mold line, otherwise about very near mint! A key piece for the telegraph insulator or Hemingray collector!

CD-127.4 - unemb. Hemingray Sold For: $743 Color: Rich aqua.
This is Hemingray's early unembossed 'blobtop' style, which can also be found embossed with 'Patent Dec 19, 1871'. The rich, solid dome glass provides extra appeal, as does the meandering milk swirl. In fact, following the milk swirl can become dizzying, as it travels and squiggles well over two feet back and forth throughout the insulator. A nice solid example in great condition! (From the Sandra Drummond collection.)

CD-127.4 - PATENT DEC. 19 Sold For: $1,320 Color: Aqua
Very good condition for this older style insulator. The shiny and clean glass has no stains or etching. This is perhaps the oldest embossed Hemingray piece made. There is some speculation that some of the unembossed units were also made by Hemingray, but these embossed units are much less common and far more desirable. Rarely offered for sale, especially in very good condition. A welcome addition for the Hemingray or early telegraph collector!

CD-127.4 - {Hemingray product} Sold For: $605 Color: Deep Tealy Aqua
{Unembossed} A fracture from the top of dome diagonally down to wire groove with an associated bruise on the dome and some other small imperfections. The molding characteristics are typical of Hemingray. The insulator was produced in a three piece mold, where the mold line runs around the crown rather than at the wire ridge. There's also a crudely formed base. This was very likely produced before the Dec 19, 1871 embossed units. This very early Hemingray product in an uncommon CD are two reasons to add this to your collection!

CD-127.4 - {Unembossed Hemingray} Sold For: $418 Color: Dark Aqua
A few dings, hard-to-see rainbow bruise at the top of the pinhole and at the base of the threads. This is an early piece made by Hemingray even before they began embossing the 1871 patent date on their insulators! (#2438)
