CD-128 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $55 Color: Light Opalescent
Much better than average condition for this type of insulator. No chipping on the wire ridges, no brown discoloration in the wire groove or wire ridges, no wire rubs in the wire groove, just a 1/2" area of roughness on the inside of the skirt behind the right mold line. A nice color density that will fit in your lineup of Hemingray opalescent pieces.

The true Opalescent color can best be seen below the wire ridge. This example has some of the typical brown staining but it's not too bad. It does have some of the typical chipping with a couple of 1" wire ridge chips on the rear and some roughness around the front. For a lighter Opalescent example, see lot 54. A classic piece that's always of interest to Hemingray collectors!

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $396 Color: Dark Opalescent
This is a great looking Opalescent example with no significant chips or flakes. The brown staining, typical of these pieces, is minimal. The E-14B style ranges in color from almost Clear to White Milk. This example is a nice deep Opalescent shade. Very light haze which disappears when backlit. Overall, a very attractive example!

CD-128 - KERR Sold For: $396 Color: Clear w/ Penny Impression in Dome
What's special about a clear KERR? How about a 1962 penny impression perfectly centered in the middle of the dome! View 1 shows the actual penny impression in the dome and view 3 shows a mirror image so one can read the embossing on the penny. If you need to see it, view 2 shows its profile. To top it off, the insulator is in excellent condition. If you need a CD 128 in your collection, why not get the most unique one?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $330 Color: Opalescent
Excellent condition, especially for an opalescent piece, with minimal brown staining. E-14B insulators range in color from Clear to White Milk, and this example is a nice medium Opalescent color which can especially be seen in the dome and in the thick glass of the skirt below the wire ridge. One of the best you will find in this medium Opalescent shade!

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $352 Color: Opalescent EIN: [010]
No chips! Normally, these have some chipping around the wire ridges and the skirt, as well as some areas of brown stain. There is a 1/4" base bruise. The E-14B style ranges in color from almost clear to white milk. This example is a nice medium Opalescent shade, and is in very good condition for this style. Pair it with the Opalescent chunk of glass in lot 11 for a great conversation starter. On its own, this would be a welcome addition to your Hemingray collection!

CD-128 - {Unembossed} {Whitall Tatum product} Sold For: $963 Color: Lime Green w/ Tie Wire EIN: [010]
A big brute! The low pinhole creates a solid hemisphere above the wire groove as well as a thicker area below the wire groove. The threads inside the skirt break up the smooth glass and add some visual interest. Very, very near mint. Produced by Whitall Tatum, this is an unusual color for a CD 128, and the small bubbles in the glass add interest. Perhaps these were produced during experimentation with different glass formulas at Whitall Tatum. A piece that will surely stand out!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $187 Color: Opalescent EIN: [010]
These are found in a range of colors from Clear to White Milk. This is about in the middle of the Opalescent spectrum. Many examples have significant chipping and brown stains; this one is very good in that respect and has virtually no chipping and only a minimal amount of brown stains. A very nice example and better than many!

CD-128 - Hemingray Opalescent Sold For: $360 Item: #42
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $176 Color: Light Opalescent
Great condition! These often have brown stains, chips and surface discoloration. This example is far better than most with only a small area of staining and a few flakes on the base. The opalescent tones are even more pronounced when front-lit or base-lit.

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY_CS // E_14B Sold For: $308 Color: Opalescent
Some typical brown staining and very minor flaking on the wire ridges. Free from the chips and other damage usually seen on these fragile insulators. Looks great when front lit! Most of the Opalescent CD 128's were used on a line in Florida. When the line came down, many fell into a swamp and sustained heavy brown stains and damage. A fine example!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY-E.1. Sold For: $105 Color: Lemon
Excellent condition! This may be an interesting variant similar to the CD 186 experimental style insulator, where the pinhole extends through the dome of the insulator, the exact reason being unknown. Or, it could be a perfect conical fracture at the top of the pinhole. You can decide which it is, but we tend to believe the latter explanation. A nice, rich lemon color. An interesting "what's it" to have on your shelf!

CD-128 - {Whitall Tatum product} Sold For: $578 Color: Bright Lime Green
An annealing line can be seen around the skirt. Excellent condition. Produced by Whitall Tatum, this is an unusual color for a CD 128, and the small bubbles in the glass add interest. Perhaps these were produced during experimentation with different glass formulas at Whitall Tatum. A piece that will surely stand out!

CD-128 - Hemingray Sold For: $220 Color: Milky white opalescent.
Heavy translucent milky-white opalescent glass was used in the manufacture of this experimental Hemingray product. Most of the denser milky opal examples were salvaged from the Hemingray dump, with very few remaining intact or void of fractures. Surface staining is typical on these, from moderate discoloration to severe etching and decay. The basic standard for seeking a good example is: (1) the least amount of staining and surface degradation; (2) no internal fractures; (3) the ability to at least display well from one side. Even with the condition issues, a better example would be difficult to acquire. View 1 is with direct outdoor lighting; View 2 is with indoor back lighting. (From the Sandra Drummond collection.)

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY_CS Sold For: $275 Color: Medium Opalescent
No significant damage! There are none of the nicks and chips that are common to these insulators. Most of them were used on a line in Florida. When the line came down, many fell into a swamp and sustained heavy brown stains and damage. There is minimal staining on this one, with most on the bottom of the upper wire ridge, rendering it invisible when you are looking at the piece! Very nice medium density that glows orange when back lit and shows its fantastic opalescence when front lit. One of the best in this color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY_CS // E_14B Sold For: $319 Color: White Milk
Some base chipping, 1/2" ridge chip. This insulator most likely came from the Hemingray dump. Most have a "chalky" surface, but this one is clean and shiny. It appears to have been difficult to anneal these correctly, and many examples are slumped. This unit retains the normal CD 128 profile. This example is quite clean, without the often-seen heavy pitting and brown stains. These are rarely seen for sale in any condition, and given the rarity, color, shape and condition of this piece, you may not see an example as nice as this for a very long time! See lot 101 for a white milk CD 122, and don't pass either of these by!

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY_CS // E_14B Sold For: $633 Color: Medium Opalescent
A tiny 1/8" skirt flake, otherwise factory mint. These range in color from clear to white milk. This is a nice medium to dark opalescent color. Most of these were used on a line in Florida. When the line came down, many fell into a swamp and sustained heavy brown stains and damage. This one has minimal stains, perfect condition and a good color! Few are as nice as this!

CD-128 - HEMINGRAY // E-14B Sold For: $396 Color: White Milk
A little staining on the dome, a few kiss marks and a small chunk of lower skirt missing. These were experimental insulators made by Hemingray and discovered at one of the Hemingray dump sites. There was often trouble getting the milkglass specimens to anneal properly, and they are often slumped and disfigured. Pieces from the Hemingray dump usually have a lot of staining and a chalky appearance, but this example is nice and shiny! (#2448)
