CD-130.1 - CAL.ELEC.WORKS Sold For: $3,850 Color: Cobalt Blue
 | The standout color grabs your attention, and the unusual and rare design adds to its desirability. The CD 130.1 was used along the first long distance telephone line. The line was installed in the late 1870s by the Ridge Telephone Company between French Corral and French Lake, both in California. Its purpose was to provide telephone communication in the Sierra Nevada Mountains for the hydraulic mining industry. The flutes on these are often damaged, and unfortunately this is true with this insulator. These are considered to have 4 projections and 8 flutes. The projection and the associated 2 flutes that face you and the projection and flutes on the left side are in very good condition. The upper part of the projection on the right side is mostly chipped off. The projection on the rear has chipping on the upper and lower sections. 1" flake/chip on the base, and the rest of it isn't bad for this style. For completeness, there are three 1/4" flakes at the top of the crown. |
