CD-138.2 - STANDARD GLASS INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $231       Color: Light Green
A dome scuff and a bruise at the base of the pinhole. Boldly embossed on the base "THE STANDARD GLASS INSULATOR CO. BOSTON MASS." Neat creases and folds in the glass. Any color with this embossing can be hard to find, and a Light Green example is even more uncommon. Add in the light areas of amber, and you get a particularly unique coloration. Rarely offered for sale, especially in this great condition!

CD-138.2 - NATIONAL INSULATOR CO.       Sold For: $83       Color: Light Blue w/ Milk Swirls
An open bubble and flake affect one letter in the base embossing, some flaking around the pinhole. A large white impurity with some amber in it can been in the front, and there are more milky impurities distributed around in the glass, giving it a bit of a translucent effect.

CD-138.2 - LAWRENCE GRAY       Sold For: $2,860       Color: Blue Gray
1/4" square flake on the dome, otherwise great condition! The base is perfect and the embossing is bold. The base embossing of "MANUFACTURED BY LAWRENCE B. GRAY'S / PATENT PROCESS" says it all. Lawrence B. Gray was in charge of production at the National Insulator Company in the mid-1880s. His name is on several patents, two of which are for methods of molding insulators, and one for an insulator pin. It is possible these were made at the American Iron Glass Pipe and Plate Company works in Haverhill, MA, because of Gray's association there, although the distinct blue/lavender color of "Gray" insulators is different from the other items manufactured at that location. The style of the "Gray" insulator is similar to that of the Standard Glass units, which advertised their product as using Gray's process. Gray was also listed at Standard's office address in 1893-1894. It has been reported that there are only three examples known of th

1 1/2" skirt chip to the rear of the left mold line, otherwise about very good condition. Don't be fooled; this unembossed insulator is quite rare compared to the base-embossed National or Standard examples. (#3288)
