Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-143 - {Unembossed} {Canada} Sold For: $88 Color: Green
We believe this to be a "Whittle Mold" although it does not have the texture normally associated with them. One can see spiraling amber swirls above the pinhole in the thick dome glass. The pinhole is also very off-center. Both of these add interest to this insulator. 1/2" wire ridge flake, some areas of wire ridge chatter, 1/2" base flake, a little chatter on the base. Something other than your basic "Green" to add to your collection.

CD-143 - C.N.R. Sold For: $121 Color: Rich Yellow Green
For the specialist, this is the [070] embossing where the periods are shaped like prisms. This is an attractive color for these Canadian beehives. Several large bubbles float around in the dome. 1" skirt fracture in the middle of the rear skirt. The Canadian Northern Railway (CNoR) was established in 1899 and merged into the Canadian National Railway (CN) in 1923. This is a nice example of Canadian railroad history!

CD-143 - Blue Withycombe in Great Condition Sold For: $230
CD 143 No Embossing Canada (120) Blue. This Withycombe has both great color and is in excellent condition. Usually there is at least some amount of wear on those vertical ridges. One this example, I can only see a single nick above and another nick below the wire groove. There are two, tiny, partially open bubbles on the sharp inside edge of the base. And there's a teeny flake at the end of the seam line at the base caused when the insulator was removed from the mold. That's nit-picky stuff. This is a choice

CD-143 - MONTREAL Sold For: $121 Color: Blue w/ Milk Blob
A big swath of impurity about 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" tall can be seen right in the front! An unusual ghost embossing of "REAL TELE" appears in an arc across the dome. Stress line over the dome, otherwise very near mint. A couple of oddities make this example an unusual "one-of-a-kind" insulator!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - GREAT NORTHWESTERN TELEGRAPH CO Sold For: $176 Color: Light Aqua
This is the rare variation where "G.N.W.TEL.CO." is full spelled out as "GREAT NORTHWESTERN TELEGRAPH CO." It was most likely dug and has the associated pings and dings and hazy surface. A tough embossing for the CD 143 collector to acquire!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $220 Color: Steel Blue w/ Purple Swirls
Strong purple areas can be seen going up from the wire ridge to either side of the pinhole. 1/4" flake at the left mold line, 1/4" open bubble on the inside of the skirt towards the right mold line, otherwise very near mint. A nice addition to your CD 143 collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $297 Color: Light Aqua {Withycombe}
Ruffles and ridges! Frederick Withycombe patented a number of variations on ridges and other projections, all with the same intent: to better "withstand the impact of foreign bodies" and thereby reduce the likelihood of breakage. A couple of areas about 1/2" wide where several of the ridges are damaged. Always an eye-catching style with the vertical upper ridges and the horizontal ridges spiraling around the skirt!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - C.N.R. Sold For: $110 Color: Violet Blue Tint
Large, bold embossing! Produced for the Canadian National Railway. 1/8" BB ding on the rear, otherwise easily very near mint. Typically found in much darker colors, this "near clear" example is quite unusual!

CD-143 - G.N.W. Sold For: $40 Color: Light Green
CD 143 G.N.W. Great North Western in Light Green 60-80
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - G.N.W. [020] Sold For: $100 Color: Light Green
An early Canadian telegraph style with a G.N.W. marking on the front. Note the letters on this example are tiny – measuring only 5mm tall. This example has a vivid light yellowish green colour, and the wire groove has slumped somewhat during manufacture. Some milk and steam swirls around the pinhole offer extra character. Excellent condition for this damage-prone style with only a few tiny nibbles around the sharp outer base edge, and a few tiny fleabites on the sides of the crown.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $35 Color: Royal Purple
Killer color, but this insulator was split in two parts and glued back together. the discoloration seen in the photos is the glue discoloring. Still a nice affordable purple insulator!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY CO [170] Sold For: $30 Color: Gray
An unusual grey coloured Canadian Pacific CD 143 with no visible colour. This example has abundant flecks of potstone snow distributed throughout as well as an amber swirl in the left side of the skirt. Fair condition with a medium base flake in the front, and a larger one on the rear base. Both flakes hug the outer edge of the base only.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY CO [090] Sold For: $25 Color: Mint green
A scarce colour in the early slug embossed Canadian Pacific CD 143s, this unusual shade of icy grey green is sometimes called mint green. This example has some nice steamy swirls throughout, and remains in shiny very near mint condition.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - C.N.R. [060] Sold For: $25 Color: Aqua/Green
This deep aqua prism period C.N.R. CD 143 is a base aqua colour with abundant amber swirls throughout. It appears to have a two tone effect at first glance, with the skirt being dominantly green and the dome aqua. Upon closer examination the amber swirls appear. In good condition with one medium sized flat flake on the left side of the base and a flake on the farthest right prism period.

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-143 - {Unembossed} {Canada} Sold For: $264 Color: Light Aqua
{Double threaded} One can clearly see the steep pitch of the threads which is characteristic of double threaded insulators. The two thread starting points at the top of the pinhole are on opposite sides of the pinhole. Double threading is rarely seen, and has only been found on some unembossed CD 120 and CD 143 insulators. A number of flakes on the base, some deep flakes on the mold lines, numerous dings and flakes all around. Despite the condition, this displays nicely and will fit into your Canadian "beehive" collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $143 Color: Blue w/ Milk Swirls and Graphite
You can see milk swirls all the way around the insulator, setting it apart from a typical Blue example! However, what makes it especially unusual is a large area of graphite, covering more than 3/4" by 1/2". It's visible from all angles and a direct view of it can be seen in view 3! 3/8" wire ridge flake, two 1/8" skirt flakes, otherwise easily very near mint. The slug plate makes the script embossing stand out more. This is the variant with the bar in the third "A" missing. There's a lot going on in this piece, but the patch of graphite is what really sets this off from other examples!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $110 Color: Dark Purple
This beautiful dark shade of purple still passes light, showing off the color very nicely! Easily very near mint. The color contrasts well with the "C.N.R." example in lot 64. Add this beauty to your collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - C.N.R. Sold For: $77 Color: Rich Yellow Green
A stunning Yellow Green with thick glass in the dome and at the sides of the threads! One can see some amber blending in the dome, adding additional interest. 1/8" wire ridge flake, otherwise about very near mint. This color will stand out on your shelf next to your more typical aquas and blues!

CD-143 - Canadian Pacific Fizzy Ice Green Sold For: $45 Item: #221
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed} {Canada} Sold For: $50 Color: Aqua w/ Amber Swirls
This example has a "mold line over the dome" (MLOD) and a "mold line over the base" (MLOB). These are uncommon with amber swirls, and this one has a nice amber ribbon swirling up from the base and zigzagging across the top of the dome. 1/4" base flake, 1/8" ding, otherwise about very near mint. A colorful insulator showing amber swirls from all sides!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {No embossing} {Canada} Sold For: $352 Color: Blue
Double threaded! This characteristic is unique and appears on only a few Canadian insulators. There are two sets of concentric threads that spiral up at twice the pitch of standard threads. 1" chip/flake from the base to the lower wire ridge on the rear, a little haze on the surface. A great addition to a Canadian collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - G.N.W.TEL.CO. Sold For: $72 Color: Smoky Sage
This is an unusual coloration for one of these, which are most often found in shades of Aqua. Quarter-sized bruise on the dome and associated 2" fracture that runs to the pinhole, some scuffing, dings and flakes on the base of the skirt. This should fit in well with your other colorful CD 143s.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - DWIGHT Sold For: $352 Color: Ice Gray Green
The "DWIGHT PATTERN" insulators have a distinctive shape that is more squatty than the typical CD 143. Two 1/8" dings and a little flashover on the rear, otherwise easily very near mint. An interesting color that will surely fit into your "DWIGHT PATTERN" or general CD 143 collection!

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-143 - MONTREAL Sold For: $2,860 Color: Green EIN: [010]
This is a stunning green insulator which is embossed "MONTREAL TELEGRAPH" on the front skirt and "CO" on the rear skirt. In addition to the rare color, there is a milky glob on the left rear of the skirt with a milk ribbon that follows the wire groove and flows up to the dome, centered in the rear. The angular line that you see in the rear is just a fold in the glass. Quite a desirable color for this insulator, especially in this excellent condition!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - MONTREAL Sold For: $110 Color: Blue w/ Algae Blob EIN: [010]
A large glob of impurity floats in the rear; this is often referred to as "algae" because of its darker green color and the flowing dark strands radiating from it. The algae is encased in a milky haze. A heavy annealing line follows the mold line over the dome from the left wire ridge to the right wire ridge. 1/4" wire ridge flake, otherwise very near mint. A great "junk-in-glass" example in this less common Montreal CD 143!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $176 Color: Lavender w/ Purple Swirls EIN: [170]
While you can see swirling in the skirt and wrapped around the threads, you can also see vertical streaks running up next to the pinhole; a little different than typically encountered. The glass is so clear you can see the outline of the threads like you would if it was underwater. About very near mint. A very attractive piece and unusual with an interesting range of colors!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $121 Color: Dark Purple EIN: [170]
Purple is always popular, and this attractive color passes light better than the Royal Purple examples. Displays great, especially in this very near mint condition! Add some pizzazz to your lineup!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - GREAT NORTHWESTERN Sold For: $418 Color: Milky Aqua EIN: [020]
This is the less common variation with "GREAT NORTHWESTERN TELEGRAPH CO." fully spelled out, and it wraps around the entire skirt. What is interesting about this insulator is that there are some pronounced milk swirls in the skirt that make a full wrap or more around the pinhole. They then travel up to the middle of the insulator where the milk is thick enough to create a translucent effect, to the top of the pinhole which is transparent glass. 1/4" wire ridge chip, 1/4" dome bruise, otherwise about very near mint. A great character piece!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - GREAT NORTHWESTERN Sold For: $396 Color: Blue Aqua w/ Milk & Graphite Swirls EIN: [020]
This is the less common variation with "GREAT NORTHWESTERN TELEGRAPH CO." fully spelled out, and it wraps around the entire skirt. To add some extra interest, there is a milk swirl that starts at the base of the pinhole and makes a full wrap around the insulator to the top of the pinhole. There, it blends in with a strong graphite swirl which goes around the whole dome! 1/2" area of thin skirt flakes, otherwise about very near mint. A tough embossing variation with character!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - G.N.W.TEL.CO. Sold For: $209 Color: Fizzy Light Yellow Green EIN: [020]
Pastel with character! One can see a bit of a milky swirl with some embedded graphite around the dome. The extra fizz in the glass adds some interest to this insulator that grades about very near mint. A beautiful example!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY. CO. Sold For: $143 Color: Royal Purple EIN: [070]
This example is probably slightly lighter than Royal Purple, allowing one to see more depth of color in the skirt and pinhole. 1/4" base flake, otherwise about very, very near mint. These purple CD 143s are eye-catching and quite affordable!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed} {Canada} {Whittle mold} {MLOD} Sold For: $55 Color: Sage Gray
The "whittle" pattern, seen clearly on the entire surface, gives the insulator a very crude appearance. It is reported that this may have been a product of the Hamilton Glass Company. 1" base chip, 1/2" base flake, otherwise very near mint. Always an interesting mold style!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed} {Canada} {MLOD} Sold For: $275 Color: Green
Green! 1" fracture in the dome running from the outside to the threads, otherwise about very near mint. An interesting milk and carbon swirl at the top of the pinhole. A desirable and difficult color to acquire!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $352 Color: Royal Purple

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $275 Color: Light Aqua
The "Withycombe" pattern has 69 vertical ridges above and 9 left hand spiral ridges below wire groove. We didn't count the ridges but we'll assume the Price Guide is correct! 1/2" chip affects a few ridges, otherwise typical flakes here and there. A popular "Withycombe" style!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $154 Color: Mint Green w/ Fizz

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - Withycombe {Canada} Sold For: $715 Color: Light Green
Condition! This is embossing ID [100] with 14 circular rings above and 10 left hand spiral ridges below wire groove. The upper rings look about perfect. A few small areas of roughness on the spiral ridges and an area that was underpoured creating an interesting graphite swirl. Far better than typically encountered!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - DWIGHT Sold For: $1,100 Color: Purple
Nicely proportioned "beehive." Smaller than a typical CD 143. Almost very, very near mint. Desirable embossing and purple coloration. A great example of this style! UPDATE: 9/10 Explicit damage is there is a ding, smaller than a pinhead, below the rear wire groove above the "P" (see large view 2) and a light flashover causing a small 1/4" band of discoloration down from the front wire groove centered on the "I" (see large view 1). Easily very near mint.

CD-143 - {Unembossed} {Canada} Sold For: $77 Color: Blue
An interesting shape with a higher than typical wire groove makes this look more like a CD 145 without an inner skirt. Odd threading, and it doesn't fit on a standard pin, nor is it double-threaded. Some wisps of soot can be seen in the dome and a thread of milk spirals in the skirt. A pretty piece in great condition!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed} Withycombe {Canada} Sold For: $880 Color: Light Purple/Gray Two-Tone
Much better condition than most, with only minor flakes on the damage-prone sharp ridges. Frederick Withycombe patented a number of variations on ridges and other projections, all with the same intent: to better "withstand the impact of foreign bodies." There is a nice two-tone effect where more purple can be seen in the dome, blending down to gray in the skirt. A very attractive example!

CD-143 - Canadian Pacific Light Green Sold For: $40 Item: #187
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - Canadian Pacific Light Green Aqua Sold For: $11 Item: #105
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $242 Color: Steel Blue/Purple Two-Tone
Strong purple areas punctuate the glass throughout the insulator, even more purple than in lot 67. 1" factory annealing fissure on the left front crown. There are neat, wavy folds and creases in the glass, especially in the rear. A beautiful example!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $165 Color: Steel Blue/Purple Two-Tone w/ Amber Swirls
Outstanding condition. A beautiful insulator with a good two-tone effect. Purple areas can be seen throughout the piece. An amber ribbon in the dome adds contrasting highlights!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $72 Color: Limey Green w/ Fizz
Fine, precise embossing on the skirt. The presence of "microbubbles" gives the appearance of fizz in the glass. Very nice condition. Contrasts well with the darker examples in your collection.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $165 Color: Icy Gray w/ Milk Swirls
Easily very near mint. One can see milky swirls all around the insulator, especially with front or base lighting. A nice addition to your Canadian "beehive" collection!

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $121 Color: Light Aqua
1/4" base flake, a few little flakes here and there on the sharp ridges. The embossing "CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO." can be seen under the skirt ridges. Frederick Withycombe patented various projections, all with the intent to better "withstand the impact of foreign bodies" and thereby reduce the likelihood of breakage. The combination of vertical and spiral ridges makes this variant unique!

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-143 - {Unembossed} {Canada} Sold For: $231 Color: Rich Deep Purple
{CD 743.3 style} 1/2" bruise and radiating stress lines on the dome, two 3/8" skirt flakes, otherwise about very near mint. These are produced from the same mold that made the tall style threadless CD 743.3. An uncommon variant, especially in a great color like purple, and a "must have" for the CD 143 collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed} {Canada} Sold For: $132 Color: Icy Sage Gray
3/4" base flake, some flaking at the bottom of the skirt. The insulator gets its nickname of "whittle mold" because of the uneven, faceted texture on the surface. One can see some purple coloration in the dome. The unique texture makes this piece a step up from your typical, smooth-surfaced CD 143, and the color gives it a nice two tone effect!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed Withycombe} Sold For: $462 Color: Icy Gray
4" area of flaking on the ridge below the wire groove, otherwise just some typical flaking. This is the [110] variant with 16 circular rings above and 8 right hand spiral ridges below the wire groove. A tint of purple can be seen in the dome.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - NN 'whittle mold' Sold For: $303 Color: Purple and sage two-tone.
Due to the crude surface texture of the glass, this popular Canadian beehive is referred to by collectors as the 'whittle mold' style. The two-tone effect appears quite subtle until this insulator is displayed in a backlit showcase. The dome is primarily purple, fading to a smoky purple, then sage green in the skirt. View 1 is with indoor back lighting; View 2 is with natural outdoor lighting. A beauty!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY. CO. Sold For: $77 Color: Lavender w/ Purple Swirls
Minor scuffing in the wire groove and a 1/4" paper thin flake on the rear wire ridge. Almost very, very near mint. Neat folds and creases in the glass, especially in the rear. Canada was founded in 1867, and the Canadian Pacific Railway was incorporated in 1881 to link the east and west. This purple-swirled lavender insulator is certainly a very distinctive and attractive color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - MONTREAL TELEGRAPH CO. Sold For: $66 Color: Blue
{MLOD} 1 1/2" base flake at mold line, two 1/4" factory flaws on the dome. An early single petticoat "beehive" style made for the Montreal Telegraph Company, and a beautiful color for sure!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-143 - {Unembossed Withycombe} Sold For: $352 Color: Light Green
The upper rings are in very good condition and the lower spirals have some of the typical damage common to these insulators, an associated 1/2" skirt chip. Frederick Withycombe patented a number of variations on ridges and other projections, all with the same intent: to better "withstand the impact of foreign bodies" and thereby reduce the likelihood of breakage. The combination of upper rings and lower "left handed" spirals makes this one of the more unique examples of a Withycombe piece! (#0136)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed Withycombe} Sold For: $578 Color: Light Purple
The ridges on these are almost always damaged. The top rings are in excellent shape, and the bottom ridges, which form a right handed spiral, are in good shape with some flaking, primarily on the uppermost spiral ridge. Frederick Withycombe patented a number of variations on ridges and other projections, all with the same intent: to better "withstand the impact of foreign bodies" and thereby reduce the likelihood of breakage. Overall, this example of a Withycombe is in very good condition, and the nice purple coloration gives it extra appeal! (#0137)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed Canadian} {Whittle mold} Sold For: $66 Color: Sage Gray
Paper thin 1/4" wide skirt slice at mold line, otherwise very very near mint. The strong "whittle" pattern, seen clearly on the entire surface, gives the insulator a very crude appearance. It is reported that this may have been a product of the Hamilton Glass Company. In any case, the strong pattern on this example makes it a very desirable example! (#3489)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - DWIGHT PATTERN Sold For: $1,760 Color: Deep Light Purple
Excellent condition! Harvey Prentice Dwight, while born in Belleville, NY, became heavily involved in the telegraph industry in Canada, from the last half of the 1800s to the early years of the 1900s, beginning in Belleville, Ontario. The "DWIGHT PATTERN" variation of the CD 143 is quite a bit shorter than a "standard" example. The embossing is very off-center on this insulator. The main view actually has the right mold line facing you and you can clearly see the embossing on either side. The front and rear of the insulator can be seen in view 2 and view 3. This insulator is a beautiful shade of deep purple, somewhere between light purple and medium purple. A very rare and desirable color for this piece, seldom seen for sale! (#0148)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC Sold For: $121 Color: Royal Purple
Very near mint with an open bubble on the rear base. These insulators were produced for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, which was incorporated in 1881 to construct Canada's first transcontinental rail line. The line was completed in 1885 when the eastern and western sections met in Craigellachie, B.C. This bright, rich color passes light well. See lot 56 for a lighter purple variation! (#0123)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC Sold For: $66 Color: Purple
1 1/2" base bruise, otherwise great condition! These insulators were produced for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company, which was incorporated in 1881 to construct Canada's first transcontinental rail line. The line was completed in 1885 when the eastern and western sections met in Craigellachie, B.C. These colorful CD 143s are popular with collectors; see lot 57 for a deep royal purple example! (#0122)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed} Sold For: $253 Color: Deep Purple
A couple of base flakes, three bruises from 1/8" to 1/2" in diameter on the rear crown that show some white iridescence, the rest in very good condition. A beautiful deep shade of purple! (#3484)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - G.N.W.TEL.CO. Sold For: $50 Color: Sagey Green
2" base flake and 1 1/2" base bruise. The Great North Western Telegraph Company was established in 1880 to connect Ontario and Manitoba, and later became part of the Canadian National Railway. (#3456)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC Sold For: $187 Color: Deep Rich Purple
Just about perfect! A couple of wire groove rubs. An odd amber "glob" in the rear skirt adds some extra interest and character! (#0511)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - MONTREAL TELEGRAPH Sold For: $2,420 Color: Rich, True Sapphire Blue
Fantastic condition; just a little ding on the bottom of the skirt. The insulator is enhanced by some milk wisps and bubbles. What a standout color, and with character, no less! See lot 108 for another Sapphire Blue beauty! (#0430)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $105 Color: Light Blue Aqua
Some flaking on the lower ridges. The combination of "Withycombe" protrusions, with vertical ridges above the wire groove and spiral ridges below the wire groove, makes this variant unique! (#0494)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $88 Color: Light Gray w/ Milky Wisps
Mint except for a few small paper-thin flakes on the inside of the skirt. The milky wisps can best be seen in the front and are augmented with a number of nice bubbles to create a really unique piece! (#3431)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC RY.CO. Sold For: $121 Color: Lavender w/ Purple Swirls
Just about perfect; perhaps a very small flake next to a small open bubble on the base. Great purple swirling, especially in the dome; always a classic! (#9110)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - Withycombe Light Purple Sold For: $660 Color: Light Purple
The "Withycombe" ridges were designed to absorb the shock of impact, and a few of these ridges have sustained some chipping in the line of duty. Frederick H. Withycombe patented six different styles of projections, ranging from circular, spiral and vertical ridges to various "bump" patterns. It appears that only three of these variations were actually manufactured. (#3494)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - MONTREAL TELEGRAPH CO. Bright Blue Sold For: $121 Color: Bright Blue
Large ding, the rest about VNM. A nice bright color! (#3466)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - MONTREAL TELEGRAPH CO. Blue w/ Milk Swirls Sold For: $94 Color: Blue w/ Milk Swirls

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed Canadian} {Tall mold variant} Sold For: $231 Color: Dark Purple
4 crown bruises and a couple of small base flakes. The first photo shows a bubble in the lower skirt. This is an attractive Dark Purple that is nearly as tall as some CD 145 beehives. (#3484)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - {Unembossed Canadian} {Double threaded} Sold For: $105 Color: Blue
Several skirt slices. A unique piece with two sets of intertwined threads, which allowed it to be screwed onto a special pin with half as many revolutions. Unfortunately, the design didn't take off. Even if you don't collect Canadian insulators, the double threading is interesting in and of itself. (#3468)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - G.N.W. Sold For: $55 Color: Green Aqua
Wire ridge and skirt slices and a few small base flakes. Some might call this Green, as it's almost there! Nice and crude with lots of swirly glass and elongated bubbles in the skirt. (#3454)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-143 - CANADIAN PACIFIC Sold For: $61 Color: Limey Green
