CD-151 - [BAR] / [BAR]       Sold For: $88       Color: Dark Green
Boldly embossed with a long bar on the front and rear skirts. A few annealing lines over the dome and 1/4" base flake, otherwise easily very near mint. The CD 151 insulators with embossed bars are generally attributed to the King City Glass Works in Indiana. A nice addition to your collection!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $55       Color: Aqua
While not as colorful as the Peacock Blue N.A.T.Co. insulators, the Aqua examples are quite hard to find. 6-drip-point bruise on the right front skirt, but only 1 drip point has a small flake on it, otherwise the insulator is easily very near mint. Don't overlook this tough piece just because it's Aqua!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $61       Color: Snowy Fizzy Aqua
When front lit, snow is very pronounced. When backlit, one can see the snow as well as fizz, giving it a bit of a translucent appearance. 2-drip-point bruise on the left rear skirt that does not affect the drip points, 1 chipped drip point on each of the skirts, otherwise very near mint. A nice "snow globe" that will stand out in your CD 151 lineup!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $3,410       Color: Dark Electric Blue
What a stunning color! From left to right in view 3 is a CD 151 in Peacock Blue, this insulator, a Dark Electric Blue signal, and an Electric Blue signal. We compared this insulator with the others and it is clearly in the Electric Blue range. It is common for Electric Blue insulators to have some milk in them, and this example has a nice milk worm starting in the front skirt, running up to the threads and wrapping around them. Given the comparison with the other colors, the best name for this coloration is "Dark Electric Blue." 4-drip-point bruise at the left mold line and an associated 1/4" chip that affects 1 drip point, otherwise the drip points on both skirts seem to be perfect. 1/4" bruise on the dome, two 1/8" bruises on the wire ridge, 3/8" bruise on the lower wire ridge near the mold line. They all fade away when the piece is backlit. We have not seen a CD 151 in this color before; it's a very rare and desirable insulator!

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $1,430       Color: Green / Amber / Olive Mix
What a stunning presentation of colors! You can see a little green in the skirt mixed with lots of amber, and as you go up you get more amber and olive tones. 3/4" wire ridge chip in the front, 5/8" inner skirt chip towards the left mold line, 1/4" flake/bruise on the rear crown. One of the coveted colors in which the CD 151 is found, these are rarely offered for sale; don't pass it by!

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $688       Color: Electric Peacock Blue w/ Red Zigzag
What sets this apart from other insulators of this color is a brick red "zigzag" streak at the left mold line! This is the first time we have seen this characteristic in any of the pieces we have sold over the years. We have a second example in our own personal collection and it is a quite unusual feature. This shade of Peacock Blue has some Electric Blue overtones that make it a "tweener" between a True Peacock Blue and Electric Blue. 1/2" base chip at left mold line, 8-drip-point wide bruise at right mold line, several missing and flaked drip points. This is a more unusual color than is typically encountered, and even more unique with the brick red "zigzag" in the skirt!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $94       Color: Fizzy Aqua
This insulator is filled with snow and bubbles and fizz, giving it a jade-like appearance. It has several larger bubbles, which are less common in these fizzy examples. 3 flaked drip points on the outer skirt, 1 sheared off on the inner skirt, otherwise easily very near mint. Looks great front lit or base lit!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $319       Color: Milky Aqua
Heavy milk swirling gives this insulator a jade-like translucent appearance, however the distinct milk swirls can be seen clearly in the dome! About 3 slivered drip points, otherwise about very near mint. A very nice example of milky impurities!

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $1,155       Color: Bright True Electric Blue
This true Electric Blue insulator is an extremely rare color, far removed from the color of the Peacock Blue units and a perfect color match to a CD 162 signal, as well as to the CD 257 in Electric Blue offered in lot 10. See view 3 for a color comparison. Probably ten times as scarce as the more "common" Peacock units, such as the one offered in lot 102. Some base chipping in the front, 1" bruise and 2 missing drip points in the rear, a few wire ridge flakes here and there. Produced by Hemingray for the North American Telegraph Company (N.A.T.CO.) The "N.A.T.CO." embossing can appear anywhere on the crown, but on this example it is easily visible from the front. Imagine what an insulator of this color in very near mint condition would sell for. You may not have another chance to purchase a jewel like this one in any condition!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $33       Color: Aqua
This piece has unusual embossing, with the "PATd MAY 2 1893" drip points patent date blotted out. Rather than sharp drip points, the insulator has a smooth base. No chipped drip points! One has to wonder why Hemingray removed their patented drip points; perhaps it was a special order. Three 1/8" base flakes, 1/8" wire ridge flake, otherwise easily very near mint. An unusual embossing that's harder to come by!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $396       Color: Glowing Peacock Blue
Excellent depth of color and saturation! Produced by Hemingray for the North American Telegraph Company (N.A.T.CO.) 3 1/2" base bruise and associated 1" inner skirt chip, a few flakes here and there. For a super rare Electric Blue example, see lot 3! This is an eye-catching color you'll see from across the room!

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $121       Color: Milky Aqua EIN: [090]
This nice example showcases the milk when either base lit or back lit. The Hemingray specialist will find it interesting that, although the "H.G.CO." and "PETTICOAT" are script-embossed, the "PATENT MAY 2 1893" is stamped. A transition embossed variant! About a 2 1/2" area on the base where the drip points are broken off, otherwise very near mint. An attractive insulator with an interesting embossing!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $418       Color: Cornflower Blue EIN: [070]
Classic H.G.CO. Cornflower Blue! Moderate flaking on the sharp wire ridge, scuffing around the embossing, otherwise about very near mint. A distinctive shade that will fit in well with your colorful CD 151 lineup!

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $462       Color: Cornflower Blue

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $275       Color: Off Clear
An unusual color, or rather a lack thereof? One 3/8" and two 1/4" flakes on the damage-prone wire ridge; not all that bad. It's tough to find clear, old glass, and ironically some of it is clearer than the much newer CD 155 Hemingray-45 insulators!

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $853       Color: Bright Peacock Blue
A classic Hemingray Peacock Blue color! Made for the North American Telegraph Company. Normally, these have sharp drip points, but these are all rounded over, giving the appearance of round drip points on both skirts. This is the only style of insulator with drip points on both the inner and outer skirts. 1" scallop bruise in the front, otherwise very near mint. The drip points are in really great shape. Always an eye-catching color!

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $121       Color: Snowy Fizzy Aqua
Three drip point flake, maybe a half dozen chipped drips, small inner skirt flake, 1/2" skirt flake, some flaking on the sharp wire ridge on about a third of the insulator. Similar to the CD 121 in lot 32. These condition issues are hardly visible because they are overshadowed by the snowy, bubbly, translucent appearance of the insulator!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $1,018       Color: Bright Depression Green
The sharp damage-prone upper wire ridge has a few small nibbles and two 1/4" flakes. Better than average. A 1/2" and 1/4" inner skirt chip. Depression Green insulators can be quite washed out. This one has a strong, well saturated coloration. Not often seen for sale, this is one of the better ones around!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $1,100       Color: Peacock Blue
1/4" flake on the upper wire ridge, otherwise very, very near mint. Some of the drip points are not fully formed, but none are damaged. Produced for the North American Telegraph Company by the Hemingray Glass Company. The "N.A.T.CO." on the dome can be positioned anywhere around the insulator. This one is perfectly positioned right in the front. Always a popular color and style, especially in great condition like this one!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $462       Color: Peacock Blue
1" wire ridge chip at the right mold line, 1" base chip at the left mold line, about a 2" base chip in the rear. This product of the Hemingray Glass Company is the classic, rich Peacock Blue that collectors are familiar with, albeit with some damage. Here's a chance to add a beautiful CD 151 to your collection!

Open Wire - Visit

CD-151 - HG Co 1893       Sold For: $275       Color: Milk swirled aqua.
An attractive blend of white milk swirling in aqua glass. The CD 151 style is occasionally found with white snow impurities, but can be quite difficult to acquire with nice milk swirling. The milk stands out well with back lighting, but for optimal viewing pleasure a base lit source is recommended. View 1 is with indoor base lighting; View 2 & View 3 indoor back lighting; View 4 is outdoor direct lighting. (From the Sandra Drummond collection.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $715       Color: Peacock Blue
(Crown) N.A.T. Co. 3/4" bruise (the dark area to the left of center in the photo) and 2 chipped drips. These insulators were produced for the North American Telegraph Company by the Hemingray Glass Company. Nice color!

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $110       Color: "Blue"
{Smooth base} A few small stress lines around the wire ridge on the rear, very near mint overall. Note that this is the less common smooth base variant. This is a hard-to-describe blue color for a CD 151. Depending on the lighting, it displays different shades of blue. In a 5000K light box it's similar to Hemingray Blue. In any case, it's quite an interesting color!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $242       Color: Medium Cornflower Blue
Two 3/8" base flakes and a factory stress line over the dome where you can see the glass folds. The sharp upper wire ridge, which is prone to damage, is in excellent condition. A great color for sure!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $220       Color: Aqua w/ Super Fizz
Six flaked drip points, several thin base flakes. This is the only insulator with drip points on the inner skirt and outer skirt, and it's the style shown in the May 2 1893 patent for drip points. This insulator is filled with thousands of tiny bubbles or "fizz", making it appear nearly opaque while showing depth. Neat piece! And check out lot 104 for another carbonated insulator!

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $440       Color: Bright Cornflower
3/8" flake on the front. There are two little depressions on the base as you can see in the front, a corresponding bump on the center of the upper wire ridge in the rear, and another at the mold line. These are likely factory flaws caused when the tongs were used to lift the insulator and carry it over to the lehr. The sharp wire ridge is often heavily chipped on these pieces, so this is better than most. Always a popular and desirable color for this style, and a great addition to your lineup of 151's!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO. / N.A.T. Co.       Sold For: $1,540       Color: Glowing Peacock Blue
{sharp drip points on the outer skirt only} Most of the Peacock N.A.T. Co. embossed insulators have drip damage and flaking on the wire ridge. This example is outstanding, with only 2 chipped drips and what appears to be a small factory flaw at the mold line. 1/8" fisheye and flake on the rear crown. Easily grades very near mint. This is the least common variant: sharp drip points only appear on the outer skirt! These insulators were produced for the North American Telegraph Company. The N.A.T. Co. embossing can appear anywhere on the crown and this example has the embossing nicely centered in the rear. This insulator is worth a premium when you consider its condition, rarity and fantastic color!

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $94       Color: Translucent Milky Aqua
The damage-prone wire ridge is perfect! Just a tiny sliver on one of the outer skirt drips, a couple of areas of flaking and a few chipped drips on the inner skirt, overall quite good condition. You can see distinct milky swirls, but the overall effect is one of more blended milk, giving the insulator a translucent appearance! (#4575)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $88       Color: Aqua/Green w/ Amber Blending
Some flaking on the inner skirt, 1 1/2" base flake, flaking on the damage-prone upper wire ridge. This insulator combines aqua/green areas with amber patches to create strong variations of color throughout the piece any way you look at it! (#4536)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $578       Color: Deep Glowing Cornflower Blue
Incredible condition overall! The sharp upper wire ridge nearly always sustains some damage from use, and this one is virtually perfect. 1/4" stress line in the rear wire groove and a 1/4" paper-thin flake at the base of the rear skirt. This glowing shade of cornflower blue is truly a stand-out color! (#0150)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $798       Color: Deep Green w/ Amber Blending
Crudely molded with a number of cold pour folds and an annealing line at the mold line; about very near mint. The green examples of CD 151 are highly desirable. The green patches are darkened with the presence of amber, creating highly contrasting areas of color. A truly eye-catching example! (#4530)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $94       Color: Light Aqua w/ Amber Swirls
A 3/4" hard-to-see scallop bruise in front, otherwise about very near mint. A well-defined amber worm, contrasting well with the light aqua color, winds around the pinhole and can be seen from almost every angle. The thick dome glass adds to the visual appeal of this insulator! (#4615)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO.       Sold For: $110       Color: Light Limey Green
3/8" dome fisheye, otherwise about very near mint. Smooth base CD 151 H.G. CO. insulators come in a myriad of colors and tints; do you have one just like this? (#4549)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO. / N.A.T. CO.       Sold For: $418       Color: Glowing Peacock Blue w/ Milk Wisps
About 1/3 of the inner skirt is chipped, there's a chip on the front and one in the rear. This is the classic, rich peacock color that Hemingray collectors are familiar with, albeit with some damage. See lot 109 for an example in very near mint condition. (#4501)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-151 - H.G. CO. / N.A.T. CO.       Sold For: $1,100       Color: Glowing Peacock Blue
3/8" lower wire ridge flake at the left mold line, a sheered off drip in the front. Wonderful condition for a piece that often has significant drip damage and flaking. A few of the smaller drip points on the inner skirt have factory open bubbles but no chipping. A stunning example of this classic early Hemingray color! See lot 110 for another example. (#0186)

CD-151 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $242       Color: Peacock Blue

CD-151 - H.G.CO. Ice Aqua w/ Purple       Sold For: $8,250       Color: Ice Aqua w/ Purple
1" skirt bruise and a large inner skirt chip, both in the rear. The rest of the drips are perfect and the rest of the insulator is VVNM. Some people talk about purple wisps in the dome? others talk about purple swirls? This insulator is nearly a two-tone! From the lower wire ridge up it is virtually all purple and the skirt is the typical Ice Aqua color. Charles was gracious enough to allow the people attending the 2012 Kansas City National to view his collection. Everyone, including ourselves, found their eyes were immediately drawn to this insulator! And you can see why... This is believed to be the most extreme example of a CD 151 with purple in the dome. It is just an amazing piece! You have to see it in person to truly appreciate it; buy it and see for yourself! (#4605)
