CD-154 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $66 Color: Hemingray Blue/Green Two Tone
This is an interesting "Two Tone." Typically the Green is a wedge-shaped slice of color. In this particular case, there is a 1" band of Green that runs from the center to the left mold line and then up and over the pinhole, making it a swirled band of amber. A little scuff, otherwise very, very near mint. A neat "Two Tone" variation!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $418 Color: Yellow
This is one of the lighter shades of the CD 152 Dominion insulators, but not quite as light in color as the Light Yellow example in lot 75. The Bright Yellow Amber unit in lot 77 is several shades darker. 3/8" skirt flake on the front, otherwise very, very near mint. Check out our Dominion-42s and see which will fit into your lineup!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $209 Color: Bright Yellow Amber
The CD 154 Dominions are found in a range of colors and this well-saturated example falls in the middle of the range. A couple of small scuffs, otherwise easily very near mint. Compare with the Yellow example in lot 76 and the Light Yellow unit in lot 75 and see which insulators fit into your lineup!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $143 Color: Light Yellow
Dominion-42s are available in a variety of colors and this insulator is one of the lighter shades, but it is still a colorful piece. Interestingly, one can see a darker strand of yellow coming up from the wire ridge across the dome. See lot 77 for a Bright Yellow Amber example and lot 76 for a slightly darker Yellow insulator. One of these is sure to fit into your collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - {Unembossed Zicme} {Colombia} Sold For: $187 Color: Light Purple Violet
This is a crude example! The insulator rests on a 1/4" base extension, rather than on the drip points. 1 1/2" base bruise in the rear, otherwise about very near mint. The "Zicme" trademark stands for Zundel Industria Colombiana Materiales Electricos, and Salomon Zundel was the founder of Zicme. This medium shade of Purple should fit in well in your Zicme lineup!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - ZICME Sold For: $1,155 Color: Rich Turquoise w/ Blue and Amber Streaks
WOW! One of the first things that comes to mind when you see this insulator is "What a Bright Blue amazing color that really catches your eye!" In addition there are even blue and amber swirls, especially prominent in the rear skirt. When placed beside it, a rich, dark Hemingray Blue pales in comparison to this piece! The Blue Zicme insulators are more desirable and less common than the rare Purple examples. 1" chip on the rear wire ridge, 1/4" flake on the skirt in the rear. Salomon Zundel was the founder of Zicme, and the trademark was for Zundel Industria Colombiana Materiales Electricos. Without a doubt, this stunning color will catch your eye, especially with the presence of the blue and amber highlights!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - WHITALL TATUM Sold For: $1,045 Color: Carnival

What is particularly interesting about this insulator are two 1" wide areas on the base and lower skirt where the Carnival is very dark. Wonderful condition and a special addition for the Whitall Tatum or CD 154 collector! |
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - MIN COM Sold For: $418 Color: Light Green Aqua
The "MIN COM" insulators entered the hobby in 1997 at the Chicago National. It is not known where these were made, but it is speculated that they were made for use in Cuba and were not manufactured there. Excellent condition; for completeness there is a 1/2" square lightning flashover on the rear wire ridge. Demand is rising and this makes a great addition for the CD 154 or foreign insulator collector.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $231 Color: Orange Amber

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-154 - ZICME {Colombia} Sold For: $121 Color: Lavender
The Zicme insulators are crudely made and there is a lot of variation in size. This example is quite squatty, with a narrower wire groove and a shorter dome. If you just took a quick glance, you would think "Is this really a CD 154?" 3/8" wire ridge flake, 1/2" inner skirt flake. The "Zicme" trademark stands for Zundel Industria Colombiana Materiales Electricos, and Salomon Zundel was the founder of Zicme. Lavender examples of the CD 154 Zicme are a lot less common than the Purple units, adding to the interest. The shape and the attractive color should stand out in your lineup of Zicme insulators!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - WHITALL TATUM Sold For: $209 Color: Light Aqua w/ Iridizing
Here's an interesting CD 154! Whitall Tatum experimented with various coatings, including the typical bright Carnival as well as the iridized coating you see on this example. The coloration is more subtle but still can be seen when front lit on a black background which also gives it an unusual translucent effect. The iridized items are also found in Clear, but the Light Aqua coloration gives the insulator a bit more presence. Wonderful condition, and the iridizing makes it a very desirable addition for the advanced Whitall Tatum collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $50 Color: Green
While Green examples of the Hemingray No 42 aren't rare, they are a little harder to come by and this is an unusual color when compared with the Aqua, Hemingray Blue, Ice Blue, and Clear examples that are typically encountered. 1/4" fisheye on the dome, otherwise easily very near mint. Add a little color to your Hemingray CD 154 lineup!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $55 Color: Hemingray Blue/Green Two Tone
This is an interesting two tone variant! Rather than the Blue and Green being divided into two distinct areas, this insulator has heavy amber swirling on one side with amber ribbons running up and over the dome. Perhaps it might better be described as "Hemingray Blue w/ Amber Swirls" but you can decide! Very near mint. An unusual "two tone" variant that you don't see very often!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $253 Color: Rich Orange Amber
This bright, medium-toned color fits well in the middle of the amber Dominion-42s, a spectrum which runs from Yellow to Dark Red Amber! A little wear in the wire groove, otherwise outstanding condition. See lot 93 and lot 95 for two other examples!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $286 Color: Dark Red Amber
The Dominion 42s are found in a wide range of Amber shades and you can make this dark example the "end of the road"! See lot 93 for a much lighter example. A wonderful addition to your lineup and in great condition!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $319 Color: Deep Yellow Amber
One can make a nice lineup of CD 154 Dominion insulators in various shades of Amber! This example is on the lighter end of the scale. It will make a great addition to your collection, especially in this wonderful condition! See lot 95 for an extra dark example.

CD-154 - ZICME {Colombia} Sold For: $187 Color: Fizzy Purple
This beautiful medium purple color is populated with lots of microbubble fizz, giving it a bit of a jadey appearance! These are often pretty crude and have a lot of skirt flaking at the base. This example is excellent in that regard and appears virtually flawless everywhere else. Condition, condition, condition! An outstanding and eye-catching piece which will have a lot of appeal, whether you are a CD 154 collector, a purple collector, or a Colombian collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - WHITALL TATUM Sold For: $39 Color: Light Aqua w/ Iridizing
No, this insulator is not dirty. We spoke with an expert on Whitall Tatum insulators and he said this is how the iridizing looks on their CD 154s. This is different from a carnival-coated example. When front lit, one can see a little more of the iridescence. Many of the examples that were coated were produced from clear glass, but this one is Light Aqua. A few small scuffs and dings here and there. An interesting item for sure!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $55 Color: Hemingray Blue/Green Two Tone
This insulator shows a subtle two tone effect as the color transitions between blue and green. Excellent condition! Place it between your blue and your green Hemingray 42s!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $121 Color: Blue Aqua w/ Nail
There is a 1/2" nail with a head on it embedded in the inner skirt behind the "42"! Hemingray had very good quality control, so it's quite unusual to find something in the glass, especially in newer circa 1920's production. View 1 shows this insulator with a magnet stuck to it, and view 2 shows it without the magnet. Very, very near mint. A specialty item you will rarely encounter; nail this piece down!

SI-154 - Whitall Tatum Salesman's Sample Sold For: $176 Color: Clear EIN: [010]
{CD 154 style} Strongly embossed "WHITALL TATUM Co" on the front, with their triangular logo weakly embossed on the rear. Great condition! Although these items are often referred to as "salesman's samples", they are believed to have been trade show giveaways in the mid 1920's, and might even have been pressed at the show itself. This is quite a small insulator. It is shown actual size next to a full-size CD 154 Whitall Tatum. A really neat item for the specialist or the generalist!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - MIN COM {Cuba} Sold For: $319 Color: Light Green Gingerale UPDATE:
The "MIN COM" insulators entered the hobby in 1997 at the Chicago National. Demand is rising and this makes a great addition for the CD 154 or foreign insulator collector!

CD-154 - LYNCHBURG Sold For: $77 Color: Straw w/ Double Globs EIN: [100]

CD-154 - McLAUGHLIN // No 40 Sold For: $242 Color: Light Sagey Green w/ Amber Swirls
The amber swirls and "fizz" in this insulator are similar to what you see in Citrine pieces, most of which were found in other styles that were produced by McLaughlin. However, the base color of this unit is more green. Easily very, very near mint. A pretty neat piece for sure!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - MIN.COM.CUBA Sold For: $660 Color: Rich Ginger Ale
| This crude and interesting piece is very different from the other MIN.COM.CUBA in lot 139. The wire groove is narrower and the piece seems a little shorter. Mold lines are very pronounced. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - MIN.COM.CUBA Sold For: $462 Color: Light Lime Green
| The "MIN COM" insulators entered the hobby in 1997 at the Chicago National. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - HEMINGRAY-42 Sold For: $110 Color: Blue/Green Two Tone
This insulator may technically be called a "two-tone" but it's very different than your typical Hemingray example. This unit has significant amber swirls and more patches of amber than the standard well-delineated blue/green split. There are even some folds in the glass with some soot in them. If you want a really interesting "two-tone", then this is a unique one to get, especially in very near mint condition!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION-42 Sold For: $275 Color: Clear/Yellow Two Tone
Dominions are found in a spectrum of colors from Yellow to Dark Red Amber. Collectors like to own a variety of shades, and the prices have increased because of the demand. Excellent condition and a nice color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - CRISTALERIAS VIDRART {Argentina} Sold For: $176 Color: Cornflower Blue
There is an interesting placement of the mold number at the top of the pinhole; it can be read looking down through the dome. A little bruise on the inner skirt, otherwise about very near mint. A beautiful color for sure!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - MIN COM CUBA Sold For: $231 Color: Green Tint
| Excellent condition. The "Min Com" insulators entered the hobby in 1997 at the Chicago National. CD-154 - DOMINION-42 Sold For: $352 Color: Clear/Yellow/Amber Tri-Tone
Wonderful condition with perfect drip points! A stunning piece that goes from nearly clear in the skirt, more yellow to the left of center up to more of a yellow amber on the right side and in the dome. The range of colors in this piece is much greater than that of the typical "two-tone" insulators. The multi-tone effect can be seen from any side, and one of the best views is straight on! There has been significant interest in these colored Dominions and this multi-tone piece will surely be in demand!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION-42 Sold For: $220 Color: Deep Red Amber
About a ping away from mint! There is a full spectrum of colors in this style, ranging from Clear to Dark Red Amber, so this is the darkest you can get!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION-42 Sold For: $121 Color: Bright Golden Orange Amber
About 1 1/2" of chatter on the inner skirt in the rear, otherwise virtually mint! The Dominions are found in an almost continuous range of colors from Clear to Dark Red Amber and these "mid-range" colors are popular.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - CRISTALERIAS VIDRART {Argentina} Sold For: $154 Color: Light Cornflower Blue
A number of little dings here and there and two 1/8" base flakes. The color leans towards Cornflower Blue but we'll be conservative in our description. There is an interesting placement of the mold number at the top of the pin hole; it can be read looking down through the dome. A great piece for your foreign or CD 154 collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Open Wire - Visit |
CD-154 - Dominion 42 Sold For: $1,100 Color: Rich cornflower blue.
Appears closer to sapphire blue than cornflower blue, yet cornflower is the accepted listing. Fine, distinct wisps of light cobalt blue can be clearly observed with back lighting, especially in the dome. Appears darker blue to the right front side and a portion of the rear side, so could be considered a two-tone. An absolutely gorgeous example!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - [AA in an oval] {Mexico} Sold For: $209 Color: Deep Sagey Green
{Round drip points} Easily very near mint. The "AA" in an oval is unattributed, however they have been found in Mexico. This is an interesting color, mostly green but with sage tones. The fine bubbles in the glass really enhance the color!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - HEMINGRAY-42 Sold For: $132 Color: Green/Blue Two Tone
1/2" inner skirt flake, a few chipped drips and some pings here and there. Excellent color separation, with a 50/50 split. The dividing line between the colors is nearly centered over the embossing. What a great presentation!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION-42 Sold For: $154 Color: Yellow/Amber Two Tone
Very, very near mint. The Dominions are found in an almost continuous range of colors from Clear to Dark Red Amber, and one can collect a "complete set." Get this two tone variation to add some interest to your lineup!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - CIA. TELEFONICA Y TELEGRAFICA MEXICANA {Mexico} Sold For: $440 Color: Light Sagey Aqua
Typical factory chattering around the outside of the skirt, one chipped drip. The marking translates to "Mexican Telephone & Telegraph Company". There is a smooth, circular spot on the rear. It has been seen before on other examples of this insulator, but what caused it is still a mystery! An underrated piece rarely offered for sale!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - ZICME {Colombia} Sold For: $83 Color: Medium Purple
3/8" skirt flake in the rear. Typical chatter around the base from an overpour. Some folds and creases in the glass, especially in the rear. These pieces were produced and used in Columbia. Years ago, these would bring $500 and up. The well-saturated color is very attractive. Now's your chance to own one of these!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $275 Color: Golden Amber/Light Amber Two Tone
Excellent condition. The color is strong, and one can see some of the two tone swirls in the skirt area, as well as a pronounced left to right color variation in the wire ridge and groove areas. The Dominions come in almost a continuous range of colors from clear to Dark Red Amber, and the medium amber shades are considered to be the most desirable. The two tone coloration is even better in person!

CD-154 - McLAUGHLIN // No 42 Sold For: $198 Color: Bright Apple Green
Very very near mint. This color is so bright and glowing, it is really close to a depression green. We'll err on the side of caution and call it bright apple green. It's an outstanding color, and in really great condition as well! (#5048)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - MIN COM CUBA Sold For: $275 Color: Dark Peachy Straw
Two 1/2" wire ridge slices. The "Min Com" insulators entered the hobby in 1997 at the Chicago National. It is not known where these were made, but it is speculated that they were made for use in Cuba and were not manufactured there. These insulators are very much in demand, and this is reflected in their increase in value! (#5117)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - HEMINGRAY-42 Sold For: $688 Color: Carnival
Mint! The carnival coating on many Hemingray insulators was sprayed at an angle toward the skirt, leaving the skirt brighter in color, graduating up to lighter carnival on the dome. One will note that the "base" color is actually Ice Blue rather than clear! (#4914)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $242 Color: Dark Red Amber
Pinky-sized area of inner skirt flaking, the rest just about perfect! A dark, rich color to fit in at the end of your lineup of amber Dominions! (#0493)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION Sold For: $264 Color: Clear/Yellow Two Tone

CD-154 - MIN COM Sold For: $462 Color: Glowing Depression Glass Green
Annealing flakes around a small rock at the surface of the skirt, some flaking around half of the upper wire ridge, a small chip on the lower wire ridge. This "glower" will really stand out in your 154 lineup! (#5118)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - HEMINGRAY-42 Sold For: $330 Color: Blue/Green Two Tone
Mint! A very nice two tone effect, just about 50/50. The dividing line between the colors runs straight down the front of the embossing, so it displays extremely well. Color, condition and presentation make this an outstanding piece! (#9114)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - HEMINGRAY-42 Sold For: $319 Color: Light Carnival
A little flaking on the inner skirt, a small wire ridge chip. Hemingray often sprayed the carnival coating at an angle, resulting in some carnival on the inner skirt and a clear dome. A different kind of carnival coating was applied to signals such as can be seen in lot 173. It is interesting to note that the carnival was applied to an Ice Blue insulator! (#4921)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - DOMINION-42 Sold For: $143 Color: Dark Red Amber
VVNM. This darker amber Dominion contrasts well with the others in this auction to make a really neat trio! (#4867)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - C.N.R. Sold For: $605 Color: Peach

CD-154 - McLAUGHLIN Sold For: $407 Color: Light Green
VVNM. Who cares about color here? It has a 1 inch nail in the skirt and a 3/4 inch nail under the wire groove! Both are clearly visible from the same viewing angle and are enhanced with amber trails on either end, giving the impression that the nails are even longer! For the junk-in-glass collector, one nail is a great piece. With two large nails, both visible simultaneously, this is sure to see a lot of action! (Magnets not included) (#10004)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-154 - LYNCHBURG Sold For: $105 Color: Green w/ Amber Swirls

CD-154 - MR / HEMINGRAY Sold For: $385 Color: Clear
Inner skirt chip. Strong "MR" embossing. What "MR" stands for has been a mystery for decades. Numerous theories mentioned "Mold Reject", "Military Requisition", "Milwaukee RR", "MR Hemingray" (someone fooling around) and others. Four mold/date variants are known; this is 0-4:. (mold made in 1934, insulator made in 1937) Mold 33C. Collect them all! Very rare and desirable for the Hemingray or CD 154 collector. (#4939)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
