CD-155 - Kerr Flat Dome       Sold For: $210
CD 155 Kerr (020 Flat Dome) Clear. McDougald's History & Guide to North American Insulators suggests that horseplay on the production line led to the removal of the mold top plate resulting in this flat top insulator. I haven't heard of the following beforeā€¦ but this insulator appears to have the number 71 embossed in the wire groove. Perhaps 1971 was the year of manufacture?

CD-155 - Dominion Reddish Orange Amber       Sold For: $160
CD 154 Dominion (020) Reddish Orange Amber. In a window sill this will be a bright alive insulator. I think it's prettier in natural light than with fluorescent back-lighting as photographed.

CD-155 - Armstrong Root Beer Amber SOLID POUR       Sold For: $130
CD 155 Armstrong Root Beer Amber SOLID POUR. Produced by Don Wentzel and Calvin Cobb using a mold with an embossing style dating to 1969-1970. Listed in the Price Guide as SI 155-4.000.

CD-155 - KERR       Sold For: $484       Color: Clear w/ Iridizing
The stunning rainbow of colors produced by the iridizing on this insulator shows up especially well with a black background, although this rainbow effect can also be clearly seen when the insulator is backlit. A special addition for the Whitall Tatum collector, especially in this very fine condition.

CD-155 - ARMSTRONG?       Sold For: $187       Color: Light Sage {Solid pour}
What sets this apart from your typical "solid pour" is its dramatic coloration as well as the mirror finish on the top and bottom! In order to finish the top like this, a significant amount of glass had to be removed. It's very difficult to create such a smooth surface after buffing this amount of glass. It could be done at the factory, although there is no guarantee this is the case. Its darker color and unique mirror finish on the top and bottom sets this in a class well above your typical solid pour!

CD-155 - KERR       Sold For: $165       Color: Clear EIN: [020]
Flat top variant! If any insulator could stand on its head, this is the one! Was someone playing around here or what? Apparently, there was a batch made in Millville, NJ with a mold dated 1972 where Kerr was located, and another batch made later in Dunkirk, IN (1978). This is the 1972 mold. Very, very near mint. Display this upside down for a real eye-catcher! A peculiar insulator produced in the late stages of production at the Kerr factory. A fairly scarce item!

CD-155 - HEMINGRAY       Sold For: $231       Color: Clear/Yellow Two Tone EIN: [040]
A yellow Hemingray-45? Yup! We have seen examples of CD 113, 128, 155, 162, and 168 with this characteristic yellow streak/blending. Many times there is just a yellow streak down the side. All are uncommon and overlooked. We aren't sure the cause of it but we believe it's some molding artifact. Here you can see more yellow, both in the front and in the rear. An example such as this one is seldom encountered. It took us over 25 years to acquire one for our personal collection. Tough to find, especially in this great condition!

CD-155 - R.Y T.       Sold For: $308       Color: Dark Emerald Green
This piece is simply stunning! You often see these in shades of greens, aquas and lighter blues, but rarely in such a rich bright color! 1/4" skirt flake otherwise very, very near mint. Pieces of snow and bubbles add some extra character. These have nearly doubled in price since the previous price guide and they may still be underpriced. Your eyes are immediately drawn to this piece. You'd better get this "emerald gem" for your case so you don't end up looking at it with regret in someone else's case!

CD-155 - {Unembossed TEXCOCO} {Mexico}       Sold For: $352       Color: Fizzy Deep Yellow Green
Crudely made with a great underpour in the base. These are believed to be unembossed TEXCOCO insulators. An amazing color! The description of this insulator is very similar to one that sold ten years ago with the description "The insulator is full of fizz, bubbles, and has that great underpour. Forget the price guide on this one." You decide!

CD-155 - Kerr       Sold For: $715       Color: Clear with cobalt splotch.
Produced back in the early 1970s for collectors in an actual Kerr mold at the Kerr Glass factory. The original intention was to produce a solid blue insulator, but the agitator in the tank of the automatic press was unintentionally left in the off position, not allowing the cobalt coloring to blend properly with the clear glass. That resulted in a series of insulators with mild to wild cobalt blue splotching. Most collectors feel this production error created a much more exciting end result. This example contains a nice downward splotch that reverses adjacently to itself, and then lightly flows over the top of the pin hole.

CD-155 - RyT {Mexico}       Sold For: $55       Color: Sage Green
A little chatter around the outside of the skirt. In the front, there is a logo with "RyT" in a circle. It is not known what the abbreviation stands for, other than translating to "R & T" in English. In the rear, there is another unattributed logo, an entwined T and C in a triangle, and both embossings are upside down.

CD-155 - R y T {Mexico}       Sold For: $72       Color: Fizzy Limey Sage
About very near mint. The RyT logo in a circle and the TC logo in a triangle are both embossed upside down! Made in Mexico, this fairly crude piece has lots of small bubbles in the glass, giving it a lot of extra character. Add it to your Mexican collection!

CD-155 - KERR       Sold For: $484       Color: Rainbow Iridized Coating
Mint! The iridizing creates a nice rainbow effect. Quite a step up from your basic clear KERR, don't you think? Get it while you can!

CD-155 - E.I.V. // U15 {France}       Sold For: $77       Color: Green Aqua
Some little dings and minor scuffing here and there. Although a French insulator, several of these saw service in Chile, which is where this piece was obtained. It may have been produced by Sediver, a company operating since 1947 that still manufactures insulators today for worldwide use. Sediver advertises its use of "toughened" glass in its catalogs. CD-155 - KERR DP1 Clear w/ Cobalt Blue Streak       Sold For: $165       Color: Clear w/ Cobalt Blue Streak
"VVNM. The Cobalt Blue streak worms its way around the dome and down into the skirt! Andrew Gibson writes: ""In 1972, Calvin Cobb, Sr., a friend of insulator collector Don Wentzel, was instrumental in a project to make the "cobalt splotch" Kerr DP1 at the Kerr factory in Millville. The cobalt splotches were made in the middle of a clear glass run, adding cobalt frit directly to the feeder. Insulators produced later in the run had only cobalt wisps, as the workers needed to prepare for real production to resume. In all, between 125 and 150 cobalt splotches were probably made. (from www.insulators.info/wiki)" (#5202)
