Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
CD-160.7 - AM.INSULATOR CO. Sold For: $88 Color: Light Aqua
This insulator was very likely buried, although it's amazing that it only has a few chips on it. It's fractured all the way around the base and the water leaching into the fracture leaves it discolored. Despite some damage on the base, "AM. INSULATOR CO. N.Y." is clearly visible. The damage and the crudeness just make it really interesting. Had this been in very near mint condition, it would be $300 to $350, but you can get this "Bargain Beauty" for one-tenth of that!

CD-160.7 - AM.INSULATOR CO. Sold For: $286 Color: Light Aqua w/ Amber Band
The front view displays an interesting 3/8" vertical amber band. Because of the tall, tapered shape, these insulators are nicknamed the "Sno-cone". A large bruise on the rear may have been caused by a lightning strike. It is likely that the insulator split into three pieces and was reglued. 3/4" inner skirt chip, small base flake that removes "CO." This insulator has led a hard life, but can be an interesting conversation piece!

CD-160.7 - AM.INSULATOR CO. Sold For: $550 Color: Lime Green EIN: [015]
Nicknamed the "Sno-cone" due to its tall, tapered dome. The extra dome glass shows off the uncommon coloration. Typical weak threading, characteristic of units produced by the American Insulator Company. 1" wire ridge chip, 1/4" dome flake, otherwise about very near mint. Contrasts well with your more common blue examples!

CD-160.7 - AM.INSULATOR CO. Sold For: $286 Color: Bright Light Blue
The abundance of dome glass coupled with the typical weak threading at the top of the pinhole give the appearance that this insulator is threadless! 1" ridge chip, 1" base chip which rolls over to the base removing "AM." from the base embossing. Neither can be seen from the front. A bright color which grabs your attention!
