CD-185 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $154 Color: Aqua
This mine insulator has an interesting texture that could be attributed to graphite in the mold. One can also see a swirl of graphite in the wire groove on the right side. Mine insulators were used not only in mines, but to dead-end regular lines as well. Both of these situations tended to lead to more damage than usual, so many surviving mine insulators are not in very good shape. 1/2" base chip, some chatter around the base which also affects some of the drip points, a few dings here and there. Mine insulators are getting harder to find!

CD-185 - MINE INSULATOR Sold For: $253 Color: Aqua
This mine insulator is marked only "MINE INSULATOR", although with the stamped embossing and the color, it is attributed to Hemingray. Mine insulators were used not only in mines, but to dead-end regular lines as well. Both of these situations tend to lead to more damage than usual, so many surviving mine insulators are not in very good shape. This example didn't fare too badly at all. 1/4" flake at the top, 1/8" skirt flake, a few scratches. This embossing fits in well with your collection of CD 185 mine insulators!

CD-185 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $1,980 Color: Hemingray Blue
The Hemingray Blue color is stunning! We compared it to our "reference" Rich Hemingray Blue insulator it was an exact match! These insulators, often used in the mines, lived a rough life. Many sustained significant chipping and heavy drip point damage. This unit has perfect drip points! A beautiful example, especially in this wonderful condition!

CD-185 - MINE INSULATOR Sold For: $242 Color: Aqua
This "mine insulator" was produced by Hemingray and has the typical Hemingray-style stamped embossing. Mine insulators were used not only in mines, but to dead-end regular lines as well. Both of these situations tend to lead to more damage than usual, so many surviving mine insulators are not in very good shape. This example survived fairly well, with the typical flaking at the base of the pinhole, 1/4" flake at the left mold line, otherwise easily very near mint. Nice color density in the thick skirt areas!

CD-185 - JEFFREY MINE INSULATOR Sold For: $660 Color: Aqua
These insulators, used in the mines, lived a rough life. Many sustained significant chipping and heavy drip point damage. This one has moderate drip point damage but that's offset by the lack of chipping. There is a 3/8" flake on the upper skirt at the right mold line and a couple of base flakes as can be seen in view 2. Still quite respectable given the typical condition of these units. The "JEFFREY MINE INSULATOR" is much harder to come by than its "HEMINGRAY" embossed counterpart.

CD-185 - HEMINGRAY // No 95 Sold For: $484 Color: Blue Aqua
Perfect drip points! Mine insulators were used not only in mines, but to dead-end regular lines as well. Both of these situations tend to lead to more damage than usual, so many surviving mine insulators are not in very good shape. This particular example is in relatively wonderful condition so would be a great addition to many specialty collections!

CD-185 - JEFFREY MINE INSULATOR Sold For: $1,155 Color: Aqua
One is used to hearing "chips and drip point damage" describing the condition of these. At first inspection, this one appears mint, including perfect drip points! Upon closer inspection, one can see a small slice on one drip point. Making a third pass, one can find a second drip point with the tiniest slice on it, a 1" stress line in the wire groove and a 3/8" flake on the base of the pinhole. Simply amazing condition for this style! In addition, the JEFFREY MINE INSULATOR is much harder to come by than its HEMINGRAY embossed counterpart. Worth a premium because of its rarity and amazing condition!

CD-185 - Hemingray-95 Sold For: $523 Color: Hemingray blue.
This style was designed for use in mines, often on a metal pin. Due to the harsh environment found within most mines and the sometimes glass-on-metal installations, most CD 185s suffer moderate to severe damage. Somehow this example survived in vnm+ condition and the sharp drip points are mint! The rich blue glass color is a bonus.

CD-185 - MINE INSULATOR Sold For: $231 Color: Aqua
Some flaking at the pinhole is common. This example has a 1/2" flake in that area, a shallow sliver on the rear skirt, and an open bubble on the base. Mine insulators were used not only in mines, but to dead-end regular lines as well. Both of these situations tend to lead to more damage than usual. Fortunately, this example is in very good condition. The distinctive aqua color and "stamped embossing" leave no doubt that this insulator was produced by the Hemingray Glass Company. (#0970)

CD-185 - JEFFREY MFG.CO. Aqua Sold For: $275 Color: Aqua
Some drip chipping but overall for this piece, which is often heavily damaged, it's in very good condition. The stamped embossing indicates this is a Hemingray product, but the Jeffrey mine insulator is much less common than its Hemingray-embossed counterpart! (#6890)
