Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
U-189B - PEIRCE Sold For: $176 Color: Dark Brown
| Recess-marked "PEIRCE / 1605" and "PAT'D / 5-18-15" on the dome. This style of insulator was patented on May 18, 1915 by Robert A. Manwaring and James T. Hessel of New Haven, Connecticut. The insulator was designed to support the power line for street lights. The glaze is beautiful with dark brown and lighter brown mottling. The edges of the wire ridges and flutes are highlighted in tan, emphasizing the unusual shape of this insulator. Very, very near mint. An interesting style for the porcelain collector! |

U-189B - PEIRCE 1605 Sold For: $743 Color: Caramel
| The Peirce insulators are generally found in the typical monotone chocolate brown color. This example has a nice caramel color with lighter highlights on the ridges. Recess-marked "PEIRCE / 1605" and "PAT'D / 5-18-15" on the dome. Very good condition and a particularly desirable color make this example worth a premium over other examples! |
