CD-196 - HEMINGRAY       Sold For: $308       Color: Rich Blue Aqua
One might be tempted to call this Hemingray Blue, but that is seen later, in the 1920's production. These units often have slicing under the umbrella and many damaged drip points. As best as we can tell, all the drip points on the umbrella, as well as all the ones on the base, are perfect; virtually unheard of for a piece like this! 1/4" flake on the upper wire ridge in the front center that is difficult to see when backlit. Having the drip points in outstanding condition on this piece is truly amazing! Add in the beautiful color and this insulator is certainly worth a premium over your typical Aqua example!

CD-196 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $55       Color: Dark Aqua
As usual, upper umbrella has multiple chipped drip points, base has the same with a couple of 3/4 clam shell bruises on inside of base. Some roughness on upper wire groove.

CD-196 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $286       Color: Blue Aqua w/ Milk Swirls
Milky H.G.CO.'s are quite uncommon. This insulator features milky swirls spiraling all the way around the insulator from the skirt to the dome! Not only that, but these transpositions often have slices on the umbrella and damaged drip points. This example has only 3 chipped drip points on the umbrella, a teeny flake on one drip point on the base and a little scratch on the rear. By itself, that puts it way near the top condition-wise for a CD 196. When you add in the milk swirls, you get an insulator that's hard to beat! For condition and color, this is the transposition for you!

CD-196 - No 51 / H.G.CO.       Sold For: $55       Color: Deep Blue Aqua
Fantastic drip points! Only a total of 2 chipped drips on the umbrella and base combined. Normally these have slices and multiple areas of drip point damage. 1/4" umbrella flake, otherwise very, very near mint. The insulator is embossed with a large, bold "No 51" style number above the "H.G.CO." These tramps are difficult to find in such great condition.

CD-196 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $209       Color: True Hemingray Blue
We compared this insulator with a reference Hemingray Blue CD 154 HEMINGRAY-42 and the color was identical. Rarely do you find these transposition insulators in this true blue coloration! 1 1/2" bruise on the umbrella affects a few drip points, otherwise the drips are in very good condition, especially for this style. Worth a premium due to its outstanding color!

CD-196 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $99       Color: Light Aqua
Overall in great condition for this style with only one chipped drip point on the umbrella and a few on the base. Factory annealing lines around the threads and a smaller one on the umbrella. This is quite short at only 5" tall, a 1/4" less than lot 132. What is especially unusual about this piece, which normally has large embossing, is the "micro" embossing, barely 1/8" tall! Specialty collectors take note of this unique style of embossing!

CD-196 - No 51 / H.G.CO.       Sold For: $132       Color: "Hemingray Blue"
These transposition insulators often have slices under the umbrella and other significant damage. There are only two chipped drip points on the umbrella, and the drip points on the base are perfect! Otherwise easily very near mint! While not a "true" Hemingray Blue when you compare it to later Hemingray production, this is about as close to Hemingray Blue as these H.G.CO. pieces come. When you consider the "No 51" style embossing, the color and the great condition, this piece is a winner!

CD-196 - H.G. CO. / No 51       Sold For: $88       Color: "Hemingray Blue"
Several drips on the base are blunted, 3 of the typical slices on the umbrella that affect a few drips each, not really bad for this damage-prone style. This is the less common No 51 style embossing. It is interesting to note that the embossing on the front is written in large script, while on the rear is the typical stamped embossing. The color is very similar to the Hemingray blue found in later Hemingray-embossed insulators, but not quite as blue. The trade name for this style is the "Perfect Transposition" and this would be the perfect addition to your collection! (#7003)

CD-196 - HEMINGRAY No 51       Sold For: $88       Color: Blue Aqua
The CD 196 has a very unusual shape, and its fragility normally leads to slices on the umbrella and some drip damage. This example is perfect in that respect. A small flake on the base of the skirt and a ding on the crown is about all the damage here! Take this tramp home! (#7007)

CD-196 - O.V.G.CO. Blue Aqua       Sold For: $3,190       Color: Blue Aqua
Several base fractures; the rest is in very good condition and the piece still displays well. This is by far the toughest CD for the O.V.G. specialist, and it may be a while before you see another one for sale! (#7009)

CD-196 - HEMINGRAY // No 51 Rich Blue Aqua       Sold For: $154       Color: Rich Blue Aqua
Most of these have some damage to the umbrella. This "Perfect Transposition" is nearly perfect with only one chipped drip on the umbrella and a few dings. A keeper for sure! (#7006)

CD-196 - H.G.CO.       Sold For: $341       Color: Aqua
Small base bruise. The umbrella on a 196 often has slices, flakes, bruises, etc. This one is perfect! The rare "PATENT APPLIED FOR" embossing appears on the umbrella. Very good condition for this sought-after embossing variation! (#7001)
