CD-201 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $66 Color: Aqua
This old style transposition insulator was originally embossed "H.G. CO." and manufactured with a smooth base. Over the years, drip points and the associated patent date of May 2, 1893 were added, and the embossing was changed to "HEMINGRAY." While these aren't too hard to obtain, finding them without chips, slices, or damaged drip points can be difficult. The drip points are perfect, there is a tiny flake, smaller than a pinhead, on the rear skirt, and 2 very hard-to-see stress lines at the top of the pinhole. It is interesting to note that the embossing on the front skirt is stamped, while the rear embossing is the more crude "prism style" with the "loopy 2". A very nice example!

CD-201 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $50 Color: Blue Aqua w/ Amber Swirls
Some amber swirling in the skirt and the umbrella, and you can see strong amber swirling in the dome! You see aqua units all the time, but it's uncommon to see examples with this amount of amber. A thin base chip affects about 7 drip points, 1" base bruise on the rear, 1" roughness at the base of the pinhole, otherwise about very near mint. The underside of the umbrella often has some flaking, and this one is really clean. The embossing is the newer "stamped" style. Add this classy one-piece transposition to your collection!

CD-201 - H.G.CO. Sold For: $853 Color: Blue Aqua
Rare "H.G.CO" embossing! The second of five generations of embossing on this insulator, leading up to the final "HEMINGRAY" embossed units. The first generation is the smooth base variant simply embossed "H.G.Co." About half the inner skirt is missing but the drip points remain in good condition. 1/2" flake on the rear removes "AY 2 1". [UPDATE: View 3 shows the inner skirt with the front of the insulator at 12 o;'clock] Many examples of the "H.G.CO." embossed CD 201s have damage, as does this one, but it's a key piece for the Hemingray collector.

CD-201 - H.G. CO. No 2 TRANSPOSITION Sold For: $880 Color: Aqua
About half the inner skirt is chipped, 2" bruise and associated drip damage on the front right, 1 1/2" shallow umbrella chip at the mold line. None of this affects the embossing, which is bold and crisp. All H.G.CO. embossed CD 201's are very rare. This is a particularly unusual transition embossed piece in that the "No 2 TRANSPOSITION" and the "PATENT MAY 2 1893" are embossed in the newer stamped style, while the H.G.CO. on the skirt is embossed with the old, bold, prism lettering. This insulator style underwent several quick embossing transitions starting with the simple "H.G.CO." on a smooth base insulator, until this final embossing variation when "H.G.CO." was replaced with "HEMINGRAY". The hobby has realized the scarcity and significance of the CD 201 H.G.CO. tramps, and their value and desirability has increased proportionately. This item should be of special interest to transposition and Hemingray collectors!
