CD-220 - HEMINGRAY       Sold For: $352       Color: Honey Orange Amber
Thick areas of glass in the skirt and flange contrast well with the lighter color in the skirt and the medium color in the crown. Some of these probably came from the dump, and others were definitely used in service. This may have come from the dump and has a few typical scuffs and pings and some etching inside the skirts. These are found in several shades of amber, and this is one of the nicer shades.

CD-220 - HEMINGRAY       Sold For: $231       Color: Honey Amber w/ Brass Bushing
Note that this is the uncommon variant with the brass bushing molded into the top of the pinhole. Most likely buried, perhaps at the Hemingray dump, due to associated haze and numerous BB dings on the insulator. They all fade away when the insulator is backlit. Hemingray specialists, check your collection -- do you have the brass-bushed variant? This example is worth a premium!

Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon

CD-220 - HEMINGRAY-670 / LOWEX       Sold For: $275       Color: Honey Amber
This was found in service and has a little rubbing in the wire groove. This is the less common variant, embossed "HEMINGRAY-670 / LOWEX". LOWEX stands for LOW EXpansion, LOW EXpense, and refers to a special formula of glass that was developed by Hemingray to better withstand temperature changes without breaking. A nice addition for the Hemingray collector, and one of the few pieces embossed "LOWEX".
