Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon

CD-249 - HEMINGRAY       Sold For: $660       Color: Aqua
This is one large and heavy piece of glass! Amazingly, several dozen of these can still be seen on the top crossarm running down a busy street in New Stanton, PA, both on Google Maps and in person, as we verified on our way home from the 2023 Springfield show! The "0 Provos" were only used on two 33-mile 66KV lines in the Harrisburg/Pittsburgh area. In the late 1990's we drove by this area and could see the insulators glistening in the sun. Quite a sight! The line crosses the PA Turnpike between exits 7 and 8, and at this point the crossarms are doubled up, with 12 insulators on each pole. The line is still in use, although nearly all of the "0 Provo" insulators have been replaced. The "0 Provos" are slowly increasing in price as they become harder to find. 1" and 1/2" flakes/chips on the uppermost wire ridge on the rear, some scuffing on the upper wire ridge and saddle. Overall, not very bad for this big hunk of glass. Get one before they

CD-249 - HEMINGRAY       Sold For: $1,375       Color: Aqua
This is one large and heavy piece of glass and is in excellent condition! Normally the "0 Provos" will have some chipping on the upper flanges which, in the day, were also called "petticoats." Often there is a stress mark in the saddle groove; this just has the faintest amount of wear. Hardly worth mentioning is a 5/8" sliver on the base. Many of these are hazy, but this one is much cleaner. The "0 Provos" were only used on two 33-mile 66KV lines in the Harrisburg/Pittsburgh area. In Google Maps, there is a short stretch going down the road to the substation where one can still see three Provos atop som

CD-249 - HEMINGRAY       Sold For: $1,210       Color: Aqua
Clean and shiny! Many of the "0 Provo" examples have etched or hazy glass, but this one is an exception! This insulator is also in great condition, with no chips on the petticoats or the upper ridges. There are no fractures or flakes in the saddle area. Several small flakes, no larger than 1/4", at the base of the skirt, about a 3/4" area of flaking on the inner skirt, overall in really nice condition, especially given the size of this insulator! This is one large and heavy piece of glass! The "0 Provos" were only used on two 33-mile 66KV lines in the Harrisburg/Pittsburgh area. In the late 1990's you could still see these insulators in use. CD-249 - HEMINGRAY // No 0 PROVO       Sold For: $825       Color: Aqua
A typical little stress mark on the front of the saddle groove, otherwise just about perfect. Many of these are hazy, as is this one. This is one large and heavy piece of glass!
