CD-252 - MAYDWELL Sold For: $105 Color: Pink
Few insulators are found in Pink, and this is a nice example! A drip point flake that only affects the inside of the base, a few flaked drip points, 1/4" wire groove flake, a few dings here and there. There is a white impurity in the front under the "A". A pretty cable!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - HEMINGRAY Sold For: $99 Color: Flashed Amber
The amber coloration on this "No 62" cable is the result of a coating which was sprayed on the surface of the insulator after the glass was pressed. Thin, 1/2" inner skirt flake. The drippy, heavy streaking of the amber adds interest to this example!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - Knowles Green Sold For: $25 Item: #150
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - KNOWLES Sold For: $77 Color: Rich Green
What a refreshing color! These are often found in shades of Aqua. A Rich Green example like this is so much more exciting. One can see some amber swirling above the pinhole and in the ears. 1/4" flake on the ear, otherwise easily very near mint. A nice, colorful example for this style!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - E.S.S.CO. Sold For: $264 Color: Blue Aqua

What a sight for sore eyes! So often, you will see these in Aqua and Dark Aqua. This is a nice Dark Green color. A little nibbling on the inside of the skirt, typical of these "mold line over base" pieces. 1/4" ding, otherwise about very near mint. This will brighten up your power collection!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - HEMINGRAY-62 Sold For: $231 Color: Flashed Amber
The amber coloration on this "No 2" style cable is the result of a coating which was sprayed on the surface of the insulator after the glass was pressed. Date code of 8:: indicates the mold was made is 1938 and the insulator was made in 1942. About very near mint. One can see strong amber streaks and swirls from the outside throughout the insulator, enhancing the overall appearance!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - CABLE Sold For: $83 Color: Dark Aqua w/ Amber Swirls EIN: [007]
While these are typically encountered in Dark Aqua, it is quite uncommon to find them with this amount of amber swirling, which can be viewed from any angle! Although dark in color, one can see patches of aqua, green and amber throughout the insulator. A similar coloration in a CD 254 No 3 Cable sold in our last auction for nearly $400. 1/4" flake on the ear, 1/4" flake on the wire groove, a couple of inches of typical chatter on the inside of the outer skirt. An attractive color mix!

1/4" open bubble and 1/2" associated flake on the saddle to the rear of the mold line, otherwise easily very near mint. The embossing is weak, but visible. Holding the insulator up to the light shows very attractive tiger striping in the skirt. What a great insulator!

| 1" base flake on the rear, 1/4" potstone stress line, 1/4" ear flake, otherwise easily very near mint. C.S. CD-252 - McLAUGHLIN Sold For: $99 Color: Deep Steel Blue w/ Ear Swirling
Two 3/8" inner skirt flakes, 1/8" ear flake, otherwise easily very near mint. Because of the swirls, this piece should be especially interesting to the California collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - KNOWLES / No 2 CABLE Sold For: $1,073 Color: Dark Yellow Green w/ Amber Swirls
3/8" base flake, otherwise very, very near mint. This "No 2 CABLE" is a very attractive color with distinct areas of amber. The amber dominates the green in the ears, producing nearly olive green ears and a great color contrast with the rest of the insulator. Eye catching!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - KNOWLES No 2 CABLE Sold For: $66 Color: Rich Green
3/8" ear flake, lehr kiss on front, otherwise very near mint. C.S. Knowles registered the "emerald" trademark for electrical glass, which he called "Emerald Glass." This "prism" emblem appears on many of his insulators, and is very pronounced in this example; one can see all the subtleties of the facets. The company supplied electrical construction material in the early 1900's. Swirls of amber in the ears add to this being a beautiful and desirable color for this No 2 Cable.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - HEMINGRAY-62 Sold For: $77 Color: Flashed Amber
Very near mint. Flashed amber shows pronounced streaks all around the insulator. The flashed amber coating on this insulator was sprayed on the surface after the glass was pressed, giving it the amber coloration. One can see strong amber streaks and swirls from the outside, giving some additional interest. See lot 165 for a flashed amber CD 216!

CD-252 - McLAUGHLIN-62 Sold For: $352 Color: Glowing Emerald Green

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - M. & E. CO. Sold For: $83 Color: Deep Aqua
Annealing fissure in the front from the crown to the saddle as can be seen in the photo, a small annealing fissure in the rear saddle groove. An underpour and an open bubble are in the rear. This is the extended skirt variation, 4 1/2" tall, which is a full 1/2" taller than your typical CD 252. It will stand tall and stand out in your lineup! Lot 172 is an example of the shorter variant, also embossed with the "M. & E." designation. (#0397)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - M. & E. CO. Sold For: $72 Color: Green Aqua
About very near mint. C.J. Mayer and A.H. Englund were both involved in the railway supply business when they formed the Philadelphia firm of "Mayer & Englund" in 1895. In 1906, the firm, along with two others, were consolidated for reasons of economy to form the Electric Service Supplies Company, with railway supplies and materials as their specialty. It is interesting to note that even several years later, the names of the original firms were retained as "departments" under the new company. Lot 173 is another example of an "M. & E." cable, but with a different embossing and a significantly different height! (#7524)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - KNOWLES CABLE Prism Sold For: $176 Color: "Emerald Green"
Easily grades at very very near mint! These styles often have damage to the ears or skirts and this one is virtually perfect! The prism logo is very pronounced, and one can see all the subtleties of the facets. The C.S. Knowles Company supplied electrical construction material in the early 1900's. In 1902, Knowles registered an "emerald" trademark for electrical glass which he called "Emerald Glass." This emblem appears on many of his insulators. A beautiful and desirable color for this No 2 Cable style! (#0152)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - CABLE Sold For: $132 Color: Dark Olive Green w/ Amber Mix
A little flaking on the inner sharp edge of the outer skirt, typical of these pieces, otherwise very very near mint. Distinctive amber streaks and patches can be seen throughout the insulator from the skirt to the ears. View 3 shows an additional angle highlighting the amber in the ears. Photos can't do justice to the magnitude of the coloration; this is one of those insulators you will turn over and over in your hands, enjoying the streaks and swirls! (#7425)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
CD-252 - KNOWLES // NO.2 CABLE Sold For: $176 Color: Deep Yellow Green w/ Amber Swirled Ears
Some factory annealing fissures on the inner skirt; very good condition! The amber swirling in the ears gives them more of an olive appearance and extra character. The C.S. Knowles Company supplied electrical construction material in the early 1900's. In 1902, Knowles registered an "emerald" trademark for electrical glass which he called "Emerald Glass." This emblem appears on many of his insulators. A beautiful and desirable color for this No 2 Cable style! (#0954)
