CD-260 - HARLOE (HAWLEY) Sold For: $1,980 Color: Blue
One of the most desirable CD's produced by the Harloe Insulator Company. This is nicknamed the "Hawley Helmet." Areas of scuffing, mainly on the flange and the base. 1/4" chip on the bottom of one ear in the rear. 1/4" bruise and lehr kiss on either side of the Harloe logo. Snow throughout the insulator, most prominent in the ears, a thick milk swirl starting at the flange and running up into the right ear. A key piece with some added character in your Harloe/Hawley collection!

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $1,320 Color: Burgundy
The rich color stands out, especially in the ears and the dome. Typical grinding on the base of the skirt and around the embossing. 3/4" inner skirt chip, otherwise easily very near mint. For a "pinch-eared" helmet, see lot 147. Add this classic color to your California helmet collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $352 Color: Aqua
The "pinch-eared" California helmets are much less common than their "regular-eared" counterparts! A standard saddle groove can be seen in the Burgundy example shown in lot 146. This variation is only found in shades of Aqua, whereas the standard style is found in many shades, excluding Aqua! No chips or cracks, just a number of hard-to-see dings and flakes, mainly in the rear. If you have a run of the many colors and shades found in the standard-eared Cal helmets, this one will fit in and stand out quite nicely. A required piece for the advanced California collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $880 Color: Burgundy
This is a classic and desirable color for a California "helmet". 1/2" ear chip on the rear, some dings here and there. A colorful addition to your helmet collection!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CABLE Sold For: $506 Color: Blue Aqua
Note the inner skirt! This variant (CD 260) is significantly harder to find than its single skirt CD 259 counterpart. Fisheye on the flange in front [UPDATE: as shown in view 3 above the "A"], otherwise easily very near mint. A rare embossing, seldom seen for sale, and a must for power collectors or those looking for something unusual!

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $770 Color: Purple/Peach Two Tone EIN: [010]
This is an interesting two-tone variant where the middle of the ears is more peach colored and the tops and bottoms are more purple. One can also see more purple in the crown area compared to the skirt. Some typical grinding on the base of the skirt and some scuffing on the skirt. At the right mold line there is a 1 1/2" base bruise with some chipping and fracturing of the glass and a 3/4" shallow chip next to it, otherwise about very near mint. You can see some creases in the skirt; these are not damage. These California helmets are quite popular and this one is a nice, attractive two-tone mix!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $220 Color: Sage Green EIN: [010]
A classic California "helmet" in Sage Green! The rich color shows well even in the ears, which are typically lighter. Very near mint. A must-have color for the California or helmet collector!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $1,925 Color: Purple/Yellow Two Tone EIN: [010]
This insulator has a very attractive contrasting, well-separated two-tone coloration, with the purple above the top of the pinhole and the yellow below it. The thick glass at the top of the pinhole intensifies the color. Recently removed from the Pacific Lumber Company in Scotia, California. 1/2" chip and 1/2" bruise on the crown, 1/2" bruise on the flange, all on the rear. Several other imperfections on the insulator but none of them take away from its presentation. There is a closed bubble (not damage) that you can see in the upper left ear. These California two-tones are uncommon and quite desirable, and this is a wonderful example to add to your collection!

CD-260 - California w Ghost Embossing Sold For: $140 Item: #306
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $935 Color: Aqua
This is the uncommon "pinch eared" variant! If you have a run of the many colors and shades found in the standard-eared Cal helmets, this one will fit in and stand out quite nicely. The color variations known in the narrow groove "pinch eared" or "pinch grooved" variant are very limited. Easily very near mint. These are getting harder to find!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $9,075 Color: Ginger Ale w/ Blue Streaks in the ears
The California helmet in this unique Ginger Ale color is more difficult to find than yellow or peach examples. Have you seen one? The blue swirling in the ears makes it even more unusual. The typical factory roughness on the base, along with a flake, have been partially smoothed out with some buffing. 2" feather bruise on the left rear, otherwise about very near mint. Without a doubt, this is a key piece for the California collector! Is our estimate too low? Don't forget those blue swirls and please don't let this one slip away!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $209 Color: Sage Green
Quite an attractive color! 1/4" stress line up from the base at the right mold line, otherwise about very, very near mint. You can see a small textured area on the flange where at the factory it was pressed up against something. A great "Cal Helmet!"

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $550 Color: Green Aqua w/ Snow and Amber
About half the inner skirt is chipped, otherwise virtually mint! The STARs with amber in the ears are popular and offered for sale only occasionally. You will also see those with "snow" once in a while. This piece has the best of both! The insulator is filled with snow, which is most visible in the skirt and ears, and the amber swirls in the ears are fantastic! There are even a few large bubbles, such as in the left upper ear and there's a 1/2" "worm" in the dome. The amber and snow show off especially well in your standard back lit display case, so it would be a smart move to add this piece to yours!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $330 Color: Turquoise Blue
Very near mint. Note that this variant does not have the patent date on the rear. There has been increased interest in STAR helmets and this is a good time to acquire one for your collection.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $275 Color: Aqua w/ Snow & Amber Swirling
PATENTED.JUNE.17.1890. Very, very near mint. Your standard "Roman helmet" insulator, with "ears" around which to secure the tie wire. There is a lot of snow, especially visible in the ears, which are already highlighted with amber swirls! "Junky" Stars have been in high demand, and the condition and character of this piece make it a great one!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $418 Color: Rich Green
PATENTED.JUNE.17.1890. Excellent condition. Some amber swirls can be seen in the ears, and a trio of bubbles, one in the left ear, one in the right ear, and one right behind the STAR in the front add some unusual character.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $418 Color: Fizzy Snowy Aqua
Very, very near mint. One can see fizzy bubbles and snow throughout the piece. There are even a couple of larger bubbles in the ears; a very nice STAR "Helmet"!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $253 Color: Yellowy Green
Some factory annealing stress lines and creases. Just about very, very near mint. This embossing on a "Roman Helmet" is relatively scarce. Many STAR insulators were manufactured in Elmer, New Jersey, where the geography and geology were able to support a number of glass factories. The amber swirls you can see in the ears are evidence of the impurity which is responsible for this beautiful yellowy green coloration! This insulator is sure to please!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $352 Color: Yellowy Green w/ Amber Swirled Ears
Very good condition. One can see some amber swirling in the ears for added character! (#7715)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $176 Color: Bright Green
Very good condition. Nice strong embossing with a large distinctive "Star" right in the front! A great helmet for your collection! (#0929)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $330 Color: Aqua
Overall in very good condition, a fisheye and a couple of dings on one ear. This is the less common "pinch groove" variant. Some of these California insulators were found in Montana. This variation is only known in Aqua and Green Aqua, colors which are not listed for those pieces with the regular groove, giving more separation between the two styles. (#0523)

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $220 Color: Aqua w/ Snow and Bubbles
Small scratch under the front of the flange and a very small base flake. The streak to the right of the star is a molding anomaly. Snow and bubbles throughout the insulator give it some extra character! (#7716)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - STAR Deep Yellow Green Sold For: $963 Color: Deep Yellow Green
Chip on the rear flange, otherwise about VNM. A very desirable color for your STAR helmet collection! Check out lot 158 too! (#7714)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - STAR Beautiful Blue Sold For: $275 Color: Beautiful Blue
An ear slice and some small flakes and dings. The "hole" in the rear is a clean open bubble. The color contrasts well with the Deep Yellow Green in lot 156. (#7713)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - HAWLEY Aqua Sold For: $451 Color: Aqua
Very crude. Diagonally fractured in half and professionally reglued. Gunky and junky. Displays very nicely from the front. A real tough helmet to acquire! (#7712)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Yellowy Peach Sold For: $935 Color: Yellowy Peach
A chip on the flange, otherwise a factory mint cold pour. This piece is really crude. The roughness in the ears is caused by having glass pressed into them that wasn't fully melted. Unusually crude for a CALIFORNIA. (#7706)

CD-260 - STAR Sold For: $99 Color: Aqua w/ Amber Swirls and Snow
Rear shoulder chip and flake, the rest VNM. There is amber swirling and snow throughout, but it's most pronounced in the ears, making this a very attractive insulator! This helmet is the "mascot" of the Mid-Ohio show and the STAR of it as well! (#7717)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

CD-260 - CALIFORNIA Sold For: $770 Color: Purple/Peach Two Tone
Inner skirt chip and a base bruise, otherwise about VNM. The Peach is most pronounced from above the shoulder to the bottom of the ears. If you look closely, you can even see a patch of aqua in the right ear! For the CALIFORNIA helmet collector, this is as good as it gets! (#7709)
