CD-299.2 - black opalescent Fry Glass       Sold For: $1,815       Color: Black opalescent.
The W.C. Fry Glass Co of Rochester, PA, was known for its formula of producing glass with a high tolerance for heat, used predominantly in the production of ovenware. This glassmaking process also produced a very attractive opalescent glass known as Foval glass, also referred to by collectors as Fry glass. Fry experimented with insulator production, but it appears any possible commercial ventures they might have attempted were unsuccessful. An extremely small number of CD 299.2 Fry glass insulators exist in collections today, possibly a half dozen, with the majority appearing to be the white opalescent. This CD is not very large for a power insulator and will fit well on the shelf in any general collection, measuring in at only 3-5/8 tall and 5-1/2 wide. The condition may not be perfect, but finding another to sit on your shelf could be a daunting task. If you prefer, position the damaged ear to the rear and it will display handsomely.
