Bill & Jill Insulators - Next Auction: Coming Soon |
The second rarest Chambers lightning rod insulator. A large glob of firebrick can be seen in the rear skirt. Remarkable condition! Nicknamed the "Bell Chambers", this style, along with the CD 124.5 "Wing" (see lot 1), compose the "Poor Man's" Chambers lightning system. Apparently most purchasers went for the "deluxe" set of the CD 317 and CD 132.4, because the "Poor Man's" set is much rarer! The lightning system was patented by Josephus C. Chambers on August 14, 1877. The "Bell Chambers" is only occasionally offered for sale, and this example is worth a premium due to its fantastic condition! |
