CD-723.3 - {Unembossed} Sold For: $578 Color: Blue w/ Amber Swirls
This is in very nice condition for a "Smooth Wade" insulator! Some typical annealing lines in the pinhole and a little haze on the surface. These early threadless insulators were produced around the 1860s and were designed for use with a wooden "shield" to prevent "Indian depredations", as reported in trade journals. Nice pronounced amber streaks set it apart from other examples!

CD-723.3 - {Unembossed} Smooth Wade Sold For: $605 Color: Blue Aqua
These early threadless insulators were produced around the 1860's and were designed for use with a wooden "shield" to prevent "Indian depredations", as reported in trade journals. Crudely made with a little chipping on the base. A 1/2" flake and a 1/4" ding/flake on the upper side probably make the condition better than most. These may have earned the nickname "telegraph glasses" and one can see why!

CD-723.3 - {Unembossed Wade} Sold For: $1,045 Color: Sapphire Blue
Outstanding condition with just minor flaking on the base from a factory overpour. May have been lightly tumble cleaned. Nicknamed the "Smooth Wade", these were used with a wooden cover to protect the glass. Aqua and blue aqua examples are fairly common. This example exactly matches the color of the sapphire N.E.G.M. "beehive", seen in lot 123! "Sapphire Blue" is not listed in the Price Guide as a known color for this Wade. An extremely rare and unusual color in wonderful shape!
