CD-728 - {Unembossed}       Sold For: $275       Color: Light Aqua EIN: [010]
Neat oval base! The CD 728 was most likely one of the last styles of threadless used in America, and dates from approximately the 1870's to 1880's. Slightly hazy and rough surface, otherwise about very near mint. An affordable threadless to start your collection!

CD-728 - {Unembossed}       Sold For: $330       Color: Light Aqua
Clean and shiny, and in really great condition! A chunk of the mold in the wire groove fell out, leaving a neat rough blob of glass. The CD 728 was most likely one of the last styles of threadless used in America, and dates from approximately the 1870s to 1880s. Glass insulators, including examples of this CD, were found as cargo on the wreck of the Civil War ship "General Sherman", which had returned to commercial use after the war and sunk in early 1874 off the North Carolina coast. A beautiful and shiny example!

CD-728 - {Unembossed}       Sold For: $319       Color: Light Blue w/ Wire
A few little pings here and there. A typical unembossed CD 728. But wait! There is a 3/8" piece of metal, perhaps a piece of wire or a nail, embedded just under the surface of the glass in the dome near the mold line. A nice "junk in glass" example!

CD-728 - {Unembossed}       Sold For: $908       Color: Light Aqua w/ Coral Growth
Excellent condition. The consignor gave us the following history: "The original owner was a dealer at a big coin show in the early 1980's in Wilmington, NC and was contacted at the show by a salvage Co that was diving on the "Sherman" sunken civil war ship. After a few days she was able to obtain over 800 threadless insulators of which about 100 were Cobalt CD 731 Tillotsons. Her favorite insulator was this aqua CD 728 threadless piece with coral growing on it. This insulator has been carefully packed away for many years in her home in Virginia. Now it's time for another collector to appreciate this unique piece!" Occasionally you will find a threadless insulator with barnacles on it; however, have you ever heard of one with coral growing on it? It is hard to put an estimate on this piece. Will you have the chance to purchase another one like this? Don't miss out!
