| 1/2" chip on the rear wire ridge, very minor etching on parts of the surface, several small dings here and there. This insulator is unusual in that the embossing is around the base of the threads, as can be seen in the photo. On July 26, 1870, Samuel Oakman was granted a patent for a slotted pinhole. When the insulator was pushed onto the pin, a wedge at the top of the pin would be pushed down, spreading out the pin to fit in the slots. This patent date was also embossed on two Boston Bottle Works CDs. A very unique method of securing the insulator to the pin! |
