CD-736.7 - {Unembossed}       Sold For: $4,180       Color: Dark Teal Green
Nicknamed the "Jumbo Pilgrim Hat," this is a massive insulator that is 5" tall and 4" in diameter, weighing in at an incredible 3 pounds! This is the largest pintype threadless insulator known, and it will stand out in your lineup. It's tough to acquire this style, reportedly found in Rhode Island at river and long distance spans where a stronger, more robust insulator was needed. Although the insulator is dark in color, one can see milky swirls in the skirt. Hard-to-see 2" and 1/4" fractures up from the base, 3/4" and a few smaller flakes on the base, a couple of BB dings. Overall very nice, especially for such a large insulator. CD 736.7 insulators are seldom seen for sale, so don't miss your chance to acquire this rare and historic old beauty!

CD-736.7 - large NN hat       Sold For: $4,730       Color: Dark teal green.
At well over 5 inches tall and a hefty 3 pounds, this is unquestionably one of the most impressive early telegraph threadless insulators ever produced. Several documented discoveries of these CD 736.7s have occurred in, or near, rivers. It is thus assumed that their primary use was for long spans at river crossings, which demanded their immense size and brawniness. Utilizing strong base lighting, this insulator displays some nice milky ribbons flowing from the dome down into the skirt. Taking into consideration the age, size and duties imposed on this insulator, the minor flaws should be of little concern. It will display no less than vnm+ at its best side. A key acquisition for the CD or threadless specialist.

Two 1/2" areas of base chipping and a few smaller areas, 1" wide slice from the base to the wire ridge, all in the rear. May have been lightly tumble cleaned. Because of their large size, examples of the CD 736.7 often have internal fractures from annealing or from stress. This one is perfect in that regard. Nicknamed the "Jumbo Pilgrim Hat," this is a massive insulator that is 5" tall and 4" in diameter, weighing in at an incredible 3 pounds!
